Dive route question

Hi, nice to have found this forum. I got the ocean after diving a lot with other computers, my first one was SME-ML though which I still have.
Dive route is a nice extra feature and it has some functionality in real life too. Two first dives it worked fine but today I can only see my walk from the car to the lakeshore which tells me the GPS had found the location. The feature ia enabled. The dive route itself is missing
Are there other restrictions and is there a way to see why it failed this time?
I love the device, and the screen is best yet. The lack of compass and 22 mm longer straps are cons that I hope will be addressed.
