SOFTWARE UPDATE 2.35.34 Q2
-
Really a very unbelievably fantastic update. Thanks a lot Suunto.
I like the:
- new watchfaces
- the possibility of customization
- the climb guidance is brilliant
- data field on map was my long time secret dream
- and I don’t know what exactly UI improvement means, but something happened, because I saw better the numbers during the activity and I guess not my eyes got better
- thank you to getting back automatic map centering
- OHR really improved, I realized it because since update my Smart Heartrate belt cannot connect to the watch
Beside that, some question came into my mind, like:
- with watch face customization the interactive or changeable fields on watchface is gone?
- maybe in a next update is the possible to make datafield on the map changable? For example to show HR on the map?
- what means and where can I find: “Sport mode specific display settings”?
- HRV belt connection is an known issue?
But keep the good work, thanks a lot

yes. fixed fields now but with higher variability in the selection

I hope so too!
- what means and where can I find: “Sport mode specific display settings”?
has been answered above
https://forum.suunto.com/post/147671- HRV belt connection is an known issue?
no. this should work as normal. I use mine constantly with many watches and new FW… You seem to have a different issue here. Maybe start a separate thread about it.

My main concern about most of the old and new watchfaces is that while they look nice and “professional” when shown in full display brightness, they look rather “poor” when the raise-to-wake is set to low brightness, the thin lines used made the display esthetically unpleasant (on Race at least), this is worsened by the fact that in many of them the time is also shown out of centre, giving to me a sense of “incompleteness”. A top sport watch should never look like a toy. My suggestion is to increase the line width for the low display brightness option, and possibly to show centered data for a more symmetrical and pleasant view.
-
@Stefano-M64 the data is shown that way because it moves, slightly, to avoid stressing the same pixels all the time and killing the display. Unfortunately, AMOLED does not have the same life span of MIP.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
Please bring back the double-tap to change display/complications. It’s good to customise two complications, but its also good to be able to cycle through two more by double tapping.Yeah I love new customization system but would want to set at least two different data-type on each place.
-
@isazi I agree and I would add on AMOLED the more pixels is on, the more it consume. So, the thin lines is surely to lower this power consumption in AOD display.
-
@raceaddict this is why I hope Suunto keeps making a MIP watch like the Vertical, AMOLED is not for me
-
@Egika is it only on race or also on vertical ?
-
@Antoine all AMOLED watches, Vertical screen is always on

I know that, but the asymmetry is mostly due to the fact that seconds are not shown in low brightness.
I don’t believe that just doubling the thickness would kill the amoled and/or the battery, since the data would move around in any case

Doubling the thickness of the lines, doubles (or more) the number of pixels on, so it does affect both battery and display life.

@enriqueescoms if you go down to intervals, is the sum of intervals 1500m as well?
-
@Brad_Olwin Yes, before it was possible. I’ve checked it. In private message I’ve linked a video of this. I can only consider the new situation either a mistake or an unfortunate step backwards. 🫤
-
@Александр-Даниленко So yes! The sum of partials gives the good amount, coinciding with the Suunto 9PP. In future swims I will continue checking.
-
Battery drainage issue anyone?
Just was checking with the down button my SPP9 showed 10%.
Turned on standby for the display, now about 10minutes later I got an “Energy Saving activated” Message and it Say 1%.
This morning After the Update it was at 43%.
Played around with brightness level in the last hour, set to high for an hour, and it fell form 25% down to 10%. Okay - but now suddenly 1% seems quite strange. -
@Ecki-D already reported to Suunto, apparently few users are experiencing battery drain. Recharge and reboot, it should solve the issue while Suunto investigates.
-
@Ecki-D just in case you can also check if “Backlight” is off in control menu.
I had same issue after some update (not this one) with S9PP, but then found that backlight was on (even after 2 watch reset!).
When I turned it off, it became fine.
-
I found a bug in new pause screen. If yoi pause before power goes to 0, it stays there. Meanwhile HR is showing real time values when paused. Not a mayor issue, just reporting
-
Long press middle button to move screens in opposite direction…love that!
But also, how do I get to the options menu now without pausing the activity?
-
Don’t like that the new update took away the feature of being able to tap a complication and have it cycle through to the other ones.
