Question: UI Responsiveness
-
The last time I walked into a shop to check out a Suunto Race, I noted the UI can be laggy at times especially if I was swiping through the menus quickly. It’s like the processor is straining to keep up with what I was doing and the screen stutters a little instead of flowing along fluidly. I’ve heard this was an issue for the Suunto Vertical as well.
Does anyone know if this still an issue for the Suunto Ocean? Or whatever firmware the Suunto Vertical/Race is running on now?
I happened to be picking up a new Garmin Descent Mk2S next week, but now I’m wondering if I should go out of my way to find a shop that already has the Suunto Ocean on display.
I have a few hiking and freediving plans lined up in the very near future for whatever fitness tracker/dive computer I’ll be getting next, and I’m extremely eager to get rid of my Fitbit as soon as possible.

@kohjl
coming from the S9B I personally find the Vertical already fast, but I agree, it could be even faster.
My impression is that the Race is very snappy and has no lag and the same applies for the Ocean.
It is a great watch. I would buy it if I was a diver/freediver.
I have a friend who is a freediver and I am sure he will order it, soon -
@kohjl from the videos of some testers the interface seems much faster, an update is also planned for Race, Vertical and S9pp

I tried the Suunto Race in a shop just weeks ago, and I’ve seen user reviews even more recent than that mentioning the lag, hence my concern and hesitation.
But I’ve just found this side-by-side comparison with a Suunto Race, and the Suunto Ocean looks as smooth as any smartwatch or fitness tracker out there: https://youtu.be/uiyPGzNpOt4?t=1796
Now I’m very interested.

@kohjl I have the Ocean and can confirm there is no lag, very smooth and responsive.
