@Sergei-Ladeishchikov Thank you Sergei for sharing your experience.
I can say we had pretty much the same issue, I was unlucky twice, but as you are now reporting, I can trust the watch to be well over water proof (still not considering it as a diving watch).

I will try to go openwater swimming once again and free dive a bit, so I will see.
In any case, even if that could be annoying the third time, I know that the assistance will replace the defective unit under warranty.

I am looking to have the thread updated as this can be useful to somebody else

@Manuele This EXACT thing has happened to me. The first time, Suunto sent me a replacement. Literally my first snorkel with the new watch and it’s happened again. Still waiting to see what happens.

Same thing happened. But it wasn’t with snorkeling, rather open water swimming. Even though I swam a couple hundred meters, the watch detected the distance as 0. After ending the activity, watch was unresponsive. I restarted it, went to swimming again; same thing. Only this time it wouldn’t turn on after shutting it down. I tried it all, different button combinations, placing it to charge… nothing. I’ve received a replacement watch from a retailer, and I’ll be honest, I’m afraid to turn on swimming again. I’m 100% sure that it’s a software issue, as water damage would be very obvious, in all other areas the watch is perfect. Odd that this is the case with a minority of people, as I’ve read on other threads.

It happened to me for the second time while surfing. The first time, I sent my Suunto Vertical back, and after 30 days, I got a replacement, not sure if it is a refurbished unit or new. A few months later, also while surfing, the unit died, unresponsive, and then blank screen. Extremely disappointed. for the price point, the reliability is sub par.

Same thing happened to me today.
Watch was bought 1st of august 2025 used it daily for sports and did 2-3 sea swims. Today after 2 days of pool swimming while camping, it simply died. After a few rebnot tries , the screen lights up with no display and the light is trembling.
I can’t find the receipt… Do you know if I can put it under warranty?

                You should try warranty.
Suunto RMA is quite good. In Europe, it is 2 years warranty, so your 2025 watch is probably in the window.

This should be checked for every country, in Spain is 3 years (for sure).

@mihailo-krivokapic If you do not have the receip, then your serial number applies. The two first numbers are the year of production and 3rd and 4th the week of production. If you are within the warranty period for you country warranty will be applied.

Is it written somewhere? 🤔 On the website, it is international 2 years warranty (for watches)

Since 01/01/2022 in Spain the warranty is 3 years, besides in the Spanish Forum it is said, from people with issues, that the 3 years have been honored.

Technically, it’s the seller’s warranty – handled by the shop – but if Suunto respects that, then that’s very good.

The manufacturer’s warranty period is set by the manufacturer itself – Suunto usually offers 2 years, but there are other terms as well.

"The Warranty Period is one (1) year for accessories including but not limited to Suunto chest straps, watch straps, chargers, cables, rechargeable batteries, bracelets and hoses.

The Warranty Period is five (5) years for failures attributable to the depth measurement (pressure) sensor on Suunto Dive Computers.

We have extended the 24-month warranty for the Suunto Spartan Trainer if the strap is detached from the case."

                        I’m talking about Europe.

I think the 2 years is because the Eropean regulations and in Spain is 3 years. I bought some months ago a Pixel 10 and the warranty is also 3 years. If for that that the warranties periods depends on the purchase country.

A fantastic thing that suunto has is that they honor the warranty, if you do not have a purchase receipt, using the serial number. As you can see in the picture.

Probably Suunto web page is not updated…
