Got me a new Vertical yesterday
-
A month or so ago, I replaced my 6 yr old Ambit 3 Peak with 9 Peak Pro. I loved it and had no trouble at all. HR monitoring and sleep tracking was great. The only issue I had was the display size. It was difficult for my old eyes to read. Minor complaint was the tone was very low and was hardly audible to me.
So, yesterday, I made the switch. I was able to return the 9PP and purchased Vertical non-solar all black. I love the big display and loudness of the tone! The software got updated to the latest and there does not seem any issues.
I also downloaded the map (took an hour and half) and it seems to work well too. Planning to record some activities this weekend and see how this watch does.

@Outdoorsy Awesome purchase. Congrats

@Highlands Thank you! Excited about the watch!

@Outdoorsy I replaced 9PP for Vertical Solar, and it was great option! I still have 9PP in box, need to sell it becouse I couldnt return. You should be very happy with Vertical, it was nice upgrade compared to 9PP.

@Outdoorsy you won’t regret your A3P on any point. Even if it was an awesome piece of gear at his time, the SV overtake it ! Enjoy !

Enjoy your new watch. If you like it half as much as I like mine you’ll be delighted ️

@Outdoorsy Enjoy, great choice!

I had an hour to waste between weekend chores. Went for a quick and easy ride. The map feature was excellent! I really love this watch.

@Outdoorsy I also much appreciate the map and naviation features of the SV. Levels the field with my colleagues who use Garmin.
Did you happen to make the same experience as me regarding the widgets when switching to your SV, and if so, what do you think about it?
I got my watch with the “old” UI (operating system), where I could swipe left/right through the different widgets. This was much like I was used from Ambit or Baro etc. Unfortunately, it seems the watch updated its operating system over night. Now, I cannot swipe through the widgets anymore. There is only one widget that one can pin and one has to cumbersomely scroll through lists and “dive down” into menus to get an overview on the data the watch is tracking…
I find that quite a backstep from the operating system of Ambit and Baro, where I could directly scroll left/right through the data.

@alschmid My experience is with the latest software. I did have not have the watch prior to the current SW release.
But, I did read the thread about the widgets and agree, there should be more widgets easily accessible. So, I have set up weather as the right swipe widget and using short cut button for maps. It kind of works for me.
