SOFTWARE UPDATE 2.33.12 - Q1 2024
-
As I´ve said in other post:
At first glance, I’m a little disappointed, to be honest. And I don’t think I’m going to be the only one. I was expecting a bigger leap with some more remarkable functionality. But, obviously, it’s a problem of “my expectations”.
I was looking forward, beyond fixing the most known bugs, to improvements in the aspects related to structured workouts (readability, range alarms, countdown, number of repetitions, etc). Or also something along the lines of “Climb Pro”. But I’ll just have to put up with it. Maybe, as another user has told me, the next bigger leap in functionality will come with the next Suunto watch…who knows.
And a little thing that touches my heart is that it looks like I’m going to have to wait for the “recovery time” data on my 9PP, as it appeared before the 2.30.32.
On the plus side, it is always welcome that efforts have been made to fix problems and bugs and to improve the fluidity and stability of the UI.
Anyway, when I get home I’ll install the new update and test it to have a better judgement.

Release Notes:
- Three new watch faces
tested, and i will stay on old ones
the analog one is nice, but i would still need/want to have two customizable fields, with all possibilities (almost) on each of the two fields. For example, no way to have battery+date.- “Map ruler” tool to measure the distance in a straight line to any location on the map (VERTICAL and RACE)
briefly tested, why not. Not sure i will use it that much.
- Reminder to resume/end activity during pause at abnormal speed
Briefly tested : really nice and working as expected
Other improvements in the release:
- Support for emojis in notifications PHASE 1 (with some limitations still)
really funny to see something else than a square drawing
font is the same as in the notification message, it is quite small to really catch the exact emoji meaning. But, i don’t care that much -
Hello,
looking forward to test this new update !
Do you know if it has fixed this major bug regarding the breadcrumb function ??
https://forum.suunto.com/topic/10325/uncomplete-track-during-activityThank you very much !
-
@skitouring unfortunately I do not believe that is included.
-
Q1 2024 means that there are 3 other updates in 2024? 🧐
-
@pilleus
It means that this is Q1 of 2024 for sure -
Also means see you in Q2 - likely end of June
-
Update installed this morning ; seemed faster than previous ones.
Except bugs corrections and improvements, not sure I will use new features.Feedback :
- UI much faster and smoother (even if it was not a problem for me)
- Sync with app is also much faster (I’m using beta SA, it was already faster with latest release before today’s fw update)
-
Installed with no issues. First activity will be later today. So far “lag” - what little there was - seems even better. New watch faces are fine but will probably stick with the one I have been using.
-
New, fresh firmware, cool!
While new watch faces are always welcome, I’m still waiting for watch face data fields customisation. Maybe it’ll come someday
-
Smooth operator
-
Suunto Vertical Ti Solar here. The UI is noticeably smoother now!
Regarding the “Improvements in the display of laps in the activity summary”: it what looks like a regression, I cannot view laps or intervals from the watch anymore:
- Widgets => Journal / Log Book
- Select any activity, including previous ones where the laps/intervals were visible
- Scroll through the information displayed
- Since the firmware upgrade I can no longer see:
- Intervals or Laps (you used to be able to scroll right on that row to view a table)
- Time spent in Heart rate / pace / power zones
Where can I report this regression?
-
@mickywickyftw
that’s not a regression, but it’s what happen to activities after fw upgrades.in the watch only summaries are kept, you should have all the info in the app, if you sync as suggested, before the upgrade
-
This post is deleted! -
@mickywickyftw Hi, I don’t think there is any regression. I think that it’s just a logbook is somehow cleaned after the update. You should try a new workout and see if the info is there. Also you should have all the info uploaded into the app if I am not mistaken so you shouldn’t lose any data.
-
@mickywickyftw You can’t!
When you update your Suunto watch the old activities are erased, only a small summary remains. You will se the improvement in new activities. This has been always this way with Suunto.
BTW, the app or the watch warns you to sync the watch before apply any update.
-
@cosme-costa The activities should be synced anyway if the update is uploaded into the watch (you could do an activity afterwards that’s possible I know but maybe the probability is quite low)
-
My app got stuck on “transferring update 100%”. I went into the watch and installed the update. But now the app is downloading the update again. Even though the watch already has the latest update.
My vertical feels significantly smoother though
-
@Zdeněk-Hruška Yeah, you are right, with the newer watches shouldn’t happen.
This issue was quite “usual” with watches that were updated using Suuntolink. -
@Niclas-Brundell for some reason the update was successful but the end of download was not acknowledged. This may (or may not) result in your watch trying the update again tonight to the same version.
