Initial part of previous track disappears on watch
-
Using the latest firmware I’ve repeatedly experienced the following issue: After a while the initial part of my previous track disappears on the map (but the entire track is shown perfectly in the app after sync).
For instance, last weekend I did a 15k / 7h hours ski-touring loop (non-stop tracking including breaks, i.e., without auto-pause). Initially I could see my previous track on the map just fine. But when returning to the origin, the initial part of the track was missing on the watch. This means that it would have been impossible to navigate back… So in the case of an emergency the Vertical is currently useless as it cannot even guide one back to origin.
I’ve opened this thread after discussing the issue elsewhere with @isazi

If this happens again to you, go in Settings in the app and at the bottom (at least on Android) you will find a “Send logs to Suunto” button. Send logs (and stay on that screen until you see the message that you are sending logs disappear, as sometimes if you close to app logs are not sent) and then write me the time you sent logs, and your email. I will report a bug to Suunto and developers can check what went wrong.
As I said elsewhere, I think this was already fixed in testing firmware and will be released with next update, but worth checking.

@isazi Hi, today me and my friend wear Vertical for hiking. Both of us initial part of the track disappear total about 3+km.
Is it have to send logs immediately? because i haven’t send log yet. wondering okay to send now? because already past for few hours. -
@isazi Are there already any news on this, and when can we expect the next firmware update? This really is a worrying and safety-critical bug…

@wesk2a I guess a firmware update is coming in the spring, or at least this is what usually happens
