Putting this in the lounge as it seems not related neither to the app, nor a specific watch.

Did anyone noticed that since somewhere around 10th oct 2023, the activity fit files exported from Suunto are NOW containing a new field : battery_level ?
      🙂
and it seems to be “retroactive”, i redownload some of my “old” activities into a new fit exported file, and this battery_level is now in the file, while it was not.

On the left visualisation of such new data in a fit file, and on the right the same activity file dowloaded in the past.

            and you didn’t warn forum’s friends ? 🙂

a question that comes to me : if adding battery_level to exported fit files was done, it probably gives any value added for suunto or suuntoapp : so why not advertising (just a little) this kind of “change” ?

@Mff73 frankly speaking you should say thanks to @dcrainmaker who pushed this feature 🙂

I am ready to thank anyone (except some rare exceptions 🙂 ), so, thanks @dcrainmaker 🙂

It won’t change any sports life, but really nice to have for any analysis related to battery usages.

@pavel-samokha , are there any other additions/changes which may worth a look ?

I am not following Ray, but I am feeling like a suunto user 😊, and I would have liked to see this change somewhere here for example, and not waiting months to discover it 🤭 while decoding a fit file to dig into something else.

well , many thanks to @dcrainmaker indeed.
You couple this data being there now with ICU and the possibilities to graph stuff are endless.

Here’s an example of battery consumption by activity 🙂

The bigger red on the bars means more battery dropped, we can really tell now if a certain S+ apps consume more battery or not, or try to determine what other factors influence on battery life with a more detail/granular view, or get a quick idea of how often we’re charging.

good stuff Suunto, thanks for adding battery details.

It is exactly the kind of analysis I would like to do 😊.
What is your x-axis? Calendar days?
If yes, isn’t it quite strange that battery level is so really linear, even when there are few days without workout? 🤔

                          @Mff73 correct, x-axis = calendar days.

On your second point yes, it’s interesting, however not that too surprising due to my routine, meaning I always try to charge watch when it reaches certain low level, training schedule is pretty constant, except for the holidays in Dec 🙂 , duration of my workouts, having hrv, heart rate, spo2 enabled and all those little things are pretty much always there.

These battery levels are added into all fit files exported since the backend change ? Or is there any rules, for example : activities older than … no battery level, or some watches models… no battery level ?
I reexported some activities from my Ambit in 2016, to see, but no battery level. Too old ? Watch not compliant (even if battery level were in the old sml files if i remember well) ?

                            Thanks.

@Mff73 then it means no battery data, likely Ambit didn’t write it or it wasn’t stored
