Suunto Smart sensor vs other belt-sensors

Like @robis , I think I have read many times that the H10 is more accurate than the HRM Pro, but without being able to cite a source.
Most of the technical/medical/laboratory papers I have read on HRV reported the use of H10, so this is my conclusion on that, however I’ve never found a tech comparison of the main brands

Hello, may I know what recommended app can use to see Suunto Smart sensor battery level?
search through the forum there’re several posts about it e.g.:
-
@robis Noted. Thank you so much. Will further search on it

@Arnaud-Lclr I prefer the Suunto, it is as accurate as the HRMPro for me, I do not have the H10. The Suunto is the only one that will sync back to the watch, especially good for swimming when the signal is lost. You can go to the gym start an exercise with the watch and belt, take the watch off and put it in your locker, come back stop the exercise and HR will sync from the belt to the watch. Good for weights, circuit training, etc.
The Suunto belt is the only one I can wear for ultras, the sensor is very small and does not cause chafing.I Have both the smart belt and the h10
the smart belt is very unreliable in the last 1 year since it stops connecting / transmitting and so on 7/10 times. It is either no longer working as it should(maybe something to do with the material on the belt??)
the H10 is really spot onin the past ( i have it for many years) the suunto Belt was also quite decent and i also liked it for being small. However the smell it emits is unbearable

@babychai Depends on the phone OS, there are apps that will show battery level.
-
I cant make any of the suggested apps for iOS to show me the battery level of my SSB?
They can’t make any connection to the belt. Maybe I am doing something wrong.
-
To any of the insiders (maybe you know):
Do you see a possibility (maybe over an update or so), that the Sunnto Belt will be able to have connection to multiple devices (for example a watch and ZWIFT).
Or is it limited by the hardware and would need a new version of the Belt?
-
@Stoke80 Only 1:1, I would be more than happy to see multiple connections with a new belt upgrade
-
@robis
Thank you. Yes I know, only 1 connection.
The question was if it might be possible in the future that the current version can do two connections?
-
I have switched from Suunto HR belt to the Coros HR sensor and I am very happy with it. It’s very comfortable and (for me) accurate. Can only recommend.

there’s no way to upgrade the sensor to my knowledge, as said I hope in a new edition

@robis
Thx again. I slighlty missread your first answer, sorry. -
Hey Suunto ‘Gang’!
I am looking into experimenting a chest heart rate monitor, mostly for my weight training sessions as the wrist heart rate is usually reporting a lower HR on quick push (hr spikes). As I’m located in Thailand i can’t get the Suunto stripe (band) it’s been out of stock for months. in the meantime I was thinking of purchasing a cheaper band as a ‘test unit’.
Does any of you have experience with the one from Decathlon (Kalenji)?
*ps: once I pair my external HR sensor do I need to turn off the 24/7 HR monitor or wil the external sensor have priority for HR transmission when paired?Cheers!

iirc it works
the external sensor have priority for HR transmission when paired?
yes it takes over, you can check by observing 2 small wings on the heart and no you do not need to turn off the 24/7 HR
-
@robis Great! Thank you so much for your input
-
@RaDeck considering we live in different countries to make sure we are talking about the same chest strap model please verify that it is bluetooth smart
-
@RaDeck My girlfriend is using it with her S9PP and the HR transmission is good. But the quality of the belt not so much. The stitching here is coming off. But hey, you still have warranty.
-
@robis cheers, will do! (it is )
-
@tomasbartko beaut’! Thank you so much for the hands-on input!!
Yeah stitching should be a huge issue, even if it comes off. Thanks A LOT -
@RaDeck
I’ve been using this belt for the last 3 months. I can confirm it works. I’m no expert on the quality of data, but to me, it seems consistent with my personal perceived effort.
