Smart Sensor battery status
-
Hi, I always do 2 things (with my Polar H7)
- Each time I finish using, I remove sensor from band (avoid sensor continues detecting HR while it’s in the drawer
- I have always installed this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lapis_semi.bleapp

@jthomi
I tried with Movescount app and it’s not working. -
great advice, it’s working.
many thanks. -
@jthomi
I hope that suunto will get there, considering the prices they ask for products, you expect features like this to be available.
Thanks,
Florin -
@florin2528 You are welcome

Wasn’t aware that you are using Android.

I would think that showing battery status is basic functionality everyone would expect from day one. I can’t understand why Suunto doesn’t have it in the watch and the Suunto App.
Also I would think that the watch should warn about low-battery status of a connected Smart Sensor.
I have a Stryd sensor and the corresponding App shows battery level and does firmware updates. There is a smaller vendor who can support its hardware. Why not Suunto?
Also it seems that I can’t even pair my Smart Sensor with the iOS Suunto App? How is that possible?
Some time ago Suunto has announced that the Suunto App is the future. It still can’t do basic things with the Suunto hardware, like updating and showing battery levels. Which is even more disappointing, since the Smart Sensor is expensive and the performance is less than stellar, and which also degrades with too low-battery levels…

@Rainer-Joswig Seems that this has not changed at all. I tried to record with the iOS app today and I could add a heart rate graph, but it did not show the HR. But in the SA settings I can see the Smart Sensor. Very weird. The Smart Sensor worked this morning with the SSU. And I‘m also searching how to check the battery level on iOS…

@Mauerwegler There are free apps to find/list/connect to BT devices in the range of the phone, which also report battery levels for the SmartSensor.

@DF130 I am using this one

https://apps.apple.com/app/id1509085044That is the one I found yesterday as well that looked good (many apps help to find the Bluetooth device, not necessarily to show its properties), but it needs iOS 17. Any other recommendations for iOS 16?
-
@Mauerwegler I used that one: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lightblue/id557428110

@Miš-Kan Ah, thanks! That was the other one I also had found yesterday, but then could not find anymore later! Just remembered the fist logo but it did not show up again in my searches. I see that in this forum we seem to find and prefer the same apps, that is a good sign that our swarm intelligence is working.
-
@Miš-Kan That is the one I actually use as well !
-
@DF130 But the one @Egika mentioned or also https://apps.apple.com/de/app/nrf-toolbox/id820906058 (never tried, just found when searching recently) might be slightly better in terms of data protection.

Just for people’s information - the Android version (from the ‘Play’ Store, also works pretty well!
-
@Swaddy61 can you share android link to avoid confusion?
So far I’ve used Bluetooth Baterry on Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.infraware.BluetoothBattery
Want to compare if I get same results or no
Thx -
@Swaddy61 And on further testing, I discover that nRF Toolbox doesn’t show the battery level of my Polar H10 belt. Polar Flow does. (Polar Flow is good for some other interesting little functions too!)
Will try Bluetooth Battery App and report back!

I use it and it works, both battery % and bpm are displayed
-
@robis Is that with the Android, or IoS version? With the Android version I only get the BPM (but not as accurate as with Polar Flow) using my Polar H10, not the battery level.
The Bluetooth Battery App shows the battery level of the H10, and of my SV interestingly! I have not tested my Suunto Smart Belt with this yet (have to dig it out and fit a new battery).
