@oeagleo well I haven’t been in such beta when beta release takes almost one month that’s why I am surprised we are not beta anymore it is production release timing
-
- Watch: works.
- App: works.
- Weather: hot and sunny.
- Few tiny details: we have to get a little creative, say using Movescount, RunGap and the Suunto app, but it’s a choice we’ve made, knowing what we were getting into.
Now is a wonderful time to use watch and app, both for us, and for the people that make our watch and app to go and use their watch and app, so they can come back to their compiler full drive to make shiny new things for us to complain about. I haven’t had a good bug to grumble about in a while and I’m having to enjoy the sun instead. Untenable!
Side note: I think we’re doing exercise wrong if we let the hardware we use to quantify our exercise get in the way.
Now I’m going to eBay to look for a powder-blue Ambit3 Peak because apparently it’s an Easter egg.

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos Thanks a lot for this reply.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos I accept your words, but I don’t get for what you guys wait for? Give to us bits by bits to test, we do not expect bunch of stuff in one release, just give us iterations of application or release with bug fixes to check if bug fix haven’t broke something. We can again end up with bunch of bugs with big releases, smaller releases with some new stuff would be just fine. Week 1-2 elevation fix boom tested none issues, week 3-4 routes planning with elevation profile boom tested none issues and so on now beta is going in line with official release so we are becoming official release testers and losing purpose of the beta, my 2 cents
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos
Thanks for your communication…
-
@slash I hear you on the agile approach, but this release sounds like the culmination of a few different projects: I imagine there’s a strategic reason for the monolithic update push, and whilst we can’t grasp it, makes sense to the person/team we entrust with delivering us what we want.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos thanks for the info I’m agree 100% with you, things will go out when they are ready
Meannwhile is time to enjoy the summer with our watches, apps and do some exercice
By the way, someone else with S9? More impressions?

Development is not stopped we get updates and features. It might be even faster as most people now leave developers alone so again I will post about this please stop any speculations here or how a company works before I put a boot on. This personally irritates me.
As a SW developer and now SW development manager in Spain, usually in summer things get slower because sometimes, we are not all in the office and decisions are usually postponed until someone return of his/her vacations… but ehhh, we all need vacations!!!
As far as I know you and me are consumers not supervisors nor CEO/CTO. Stick to that.
Sure, we are just consumers
For your information Ambit and diving watch support is already in your app, but as an easter egg, the elevation bug is almost fixed, the backend supports fit exports, Sport mode customization is 90% done (I actually use it all the time), route planning ascent is fixed, route planning is coming to android, other things that Ill keep my mouth shut are coming after summer as well.
Impressed
So you might very very soon get the above. The only thing that stalls atm this to come to you is more the decision, before someone berserks again support why his already paired Ambit does not pair with the app.
So vacation or not we are not machines. To the nordic countries vacation is outmost essential. Nordic counties want to provide a good human living conditions and if you want to go comparing this way I bet most of the worlds countries have a lot to be jeleus about the nordic countries.
But hey on the other side, other companies have the chineese kids, the chineese factories with high suicide rates and a 1e max per day salaries with no vacation.
As a consumer I bet you might not care, that is ok, but that says a lot about you then as a person to be honest. (since we gone this way conversing I ll go though it all the way).Exactly, for me, this is one of the reasons to by a Suunto device, because I think Suunto is fair company
Make Europe fair again!!! ( )
You know, Suunto, does not have any obligation to provide any watch update if they want to. You should be great full.
What people sometimes think here, and yes I see that, is that Suunto is some big company that tries to fool people and make money.
Suunto is not a Garmin size company. Apart from the StakeHolders all people are elite or top athletes that love like crazy the products they build. I bet if you ask anyone that has been to the summit as a consumer he will say the same.
So please do not speculate.Again, if Suunto provide any kind of roadmap for the SA, we should not speculate.
Best regards, and enjoy your summer!!!

This forum is the beta forum. So why are we beta testers not getting those updates you are talking about?
-
@egika that updates will come when they consider it’s ready for beta level, they are in alpha stage, so, everything will come
-
@egika I think there are 3 paths:
- Alpha => just some internal and very specific people
- Beta => just beta testers (We!)
- Public => Official release
Best regards
-
@egika because apart from you here the beta is open to the whole world.
For example since July 5 Facebook broke something at it’s API and latest sharing is broken. Yes I am in alpha as internal and I don’t care. But as soon as this would be pushed to beta the support request for example would peak.
If it was only you guys here in beta that would not be a problem.
One more thing relalted to the stalled updates, there are things that can go bad.
Take a look please, a good look here. See how many users even went berserk sometimes when the update broke pairing etc. You did reply to them as: hey relax it’s beta.
So the point is quality control over what reaches even the beta. We cannot push something that will create a disastrer.
Recent example was the movescount history sync. Some users got the app crashing and other side effects.
For those here knowing the forum was fixed as I also had contact with you and the devs. Others still email support and return their watches.
Please bare with this procedure. Sometimes the updates will be fast and weekly or biweekly and sometimes it will take a while.
The point here is that no development has not stopped and there are good things to come asap.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos ok, thank you for the explanation.
-
@suzzlo beta/live apps now are at the same level, when beta should be way ahead.
-
Thanks for news (in general ;)).
There had been a debate about a smaller group of beta testers, maybe can be called alpha tester in this case (as beta is widely public).
Is there à way to become alpha tester ?
Apart great debate you have all here, nothing to really test since agesEnjoy summer guys !
-
@mff73 On September more things are coming. For now enjoy your actual machines and MovWeb that work like charm.
My considerations about Suunto are the same. Machines have premium quality and with a design AAA. Software can be much better. With the right top priorities choosen can reach other customers.
Good vacations for someone of you, and good work for others. Is life.

sure? I think they NOW are in the same point 3.37.1 Android and 1.2.0 iOS, but, sure next version with these tons of new features are going to be only in beta and not in the public

Facebook sharing?
-
@suzzlo @slash is telling that, usually, in a beta version features are more advanced than in a public version, but now both versions are coincident.
I understand with the release of Suunto 9 they are forced to release 1.2.0 iOS (and it’s equivalent of Android) to support it.
We are expecting new build as water in a desert, we have necessity of new build
-
By the way, going back to Suunto 9, very happy with battery, since my full battery charge on Sunday, today it’s in 53% of battery
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos well said, live in the Nordics and it’s great. Dev needs rest as well!!
