This still seems to be a bit buggy in .42, Valancell 6571.

Observed: swipe to instant HR, a number is displayed. This number is usually static, then reverts to the 72 number.

            Expected: dynamic number reflecting HR.

Bug, or are my expectations incorrect?

@ze-stuart static number is last your hr, 72 number is starting point before hr lock and this should go away as misleading customers 😉

Anyway, just wait 30 sec, more or less, than you should see hr refresh

30 secs are not instant HR. So, this is not working atm

30 seconds should be the maximum time to fully initiate it, afterwards it should be “real real time”

using a Suunto Vertical & Suunto Wings; mostly running (AKA stomping around) and cycling through the northern german "wilderness", and wherever else I have the chance to do so

30 sec is (maybe was ?) the time frame needed to have a valid HR sampling.

If I remember well (I don’t have one) it’s the same for hr belt

My opinion is that we are mistaking a valid engineering limitation (30 secs) with a possible solution like sampling every minute and displaying this until a valid current HR sample.
We need to strive for an excellent customer experience despite hardware limitations
