feature suggestions Checkpoint Lap S9B
-
So I had an awesome feature-idea while planning a race.
Let’s call it: Checkpoint LapI have a specific time in mind, which I want to beat and split the whole route into small sections.
E.g.
1:50 to reach A
1:20 to reach B
2:30 to reach C …I load the gpx file and add POI for each section.
Then for the race I activate snap to route and “Checkpoint Lap”.
When I reach POI A, B … the watch automatically starts a new lap.
So I can set my watch display to “lap time” and can easily check, if I can finish the race in time, without having to remember where to press “lap” (and of course unlocking the keys first.)What do you think?

@theguyfromthesummit sounds pretty cool, automatic laps based on waypoints on route.
-
And now think about the next step and combine it somehow with Ghost runner and set a time you want to reach each checkpoint. The watch displays e.g. the pace you have to run and the time you are faster or slower.
No need to write down your checkpoint-times on a note or your arm

Would be neat too!
But I would prefer simple laps, a constant pace during and uphill/ downhill might not always be possible. -
@theguyfromthesummit Suunto+ uses NGP, so they could possibly give advise based on NGP for pacing

Would be nice!Unfortunately it looks like, this idea doesn’t get enough attention for Suunto to think about it

Nice idea. +1
Let’s vote people!!!

@bulkan Moderators should get +5 in voting haha

@theguyfromthesummit This would be great for races, where I mark Aid Stations with waypoints.

Sounds good to me, very useful for racing

I just checked out some Garmin watches and this is exactly the PacePro function the fenix6 pro series has.
You give the watch a specific pace/ time and load a route. Based on the ascent and descent etc the watch calculates the pace needed for each segment and tells you, if you are too fast/ slow or just right.
-
@theguyfromthesummit but PacePro is for kilometers or uphill/downhill section as far as I remember, not for section to a user specified waypoint or am I wrong? If it works for waypoints: how do I have to set it up?
-
@_marcus_
Regarding waypoints, I don’t know.
I just read, that it works with a route. So just for the whole race.“When PacePro is applied to a course loaded to your watch, it analyzes elevation changes along the course to calculate a pace strategy.”
But I never used it.

@theguyfromthesummit yes, that’s how it works, just for a whole track. They also changed the pace limit from 8min50 to 12min30 so I think more people can use it now for pacing on ultras/trailrunning
