Winter thriathlon
-
up…
Soon winter, and the “Winter Triathlon” mode cannot be done… :((( -
@дмитрий-резвов well, movescount allowed custom multisports. Don’t understand why this feature is missing in suunto app.
-
@tomas5 no it didn’t.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos than what is this? You can choose multisport or predefined triathlon and you can switch from run, cycle, swim to any other combination from your sport modes defined.
-
Any of preselected can be changed to other custom modes. And there are other usefull features of movescount that was abandoned during transition to suunto app too.
-
@tomas5 that was for ambits. Spartans and up don’t have this config as multisport is configured on the fly. Just keep the sports in the short list and voila. You can switch easily.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos well ambit has both possibilities. Unfortunately looks like Ambit series was best in terms of sport feature and since than there is lot of simplification in important features.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos multisport is cool but I guess it’s not exact replacement for thriathlon (duathlon, aquathlon, winter thriatlon n etc.) because thriathlon has transitions and multsport is not.
-
@tomas5 afaik ambit does not have both. You needed to set that up.
I wont argue about transitions and there is a lot of talk about this here.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos directly from Ambit 2 user manual:
Multisport training
Suunto Ambit2 offers multisport support; you can easily switch between different sports and constantly see relevant data during your exercise. You can change the sport manually during the exercise, or create a multisport mode in advance in Movescount and download it to your Suunto Ambit2. You can set an interval timer in Movescount for each sport mode included in the multisport mode. The interval timer restarts when the sport changes.
And transitions are done by Unspecified sport mode. It was already preconfigured in movescount.
PS: I don’t write this to make a point or prove I am right, I just want to let you know that there is no need to invent this feature from scratch. Suunto already has some analysis for this feature maybe in archives . And this feature worked well back than without any issues.
-
@tomas5 the new multi-sport way was the one kinda accepted by many at Suunto and not only as it does not need to be preconfigured as a sport mode ie :
- multisport 1 , 2 ,3
Currently its works more seamless. And based on that data we moved forward. Arguably a small amount of people that configure things might not like it as perhaps they prefer to create something like a predefined set of sports. To be clear: You can do exactly the same without any configuration now with your S5. The configuration would only help on creating a sport mode and sorting the sports.
I have spent quite some time here talking here about this (if you search there are tons on discussions with the same arguments), so I ll leave this alone, since I can understand that some people need this in detail preconfig soooo much

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos
In the Spartan Sport series, it is impossible to adjust the Winter Triathlon or Duathlon mode. Switching between modes in Multisport mode during the race is very inconvenient!
you need the ability to create a Triathlon-based mode, where switching between the transit zone and the sports mode can be done with one touch. -
@drezvoff I agree with you, the multi sports right now aren’t as complete as a multisport watch, you can do things but is not smooth, the data is not what you want to be showed in the segment you are and is forgetting running with power.
I’m not practicing triathlon these days but I have friends who are, and here the multisport mode doesn’t work:
- Winter triathlon. How?
- Lackl of triathlon mode with power (biking and cycling).
- Duathlon.
- The average pace per sport instead of all sports if you use it instead of triathlon.
I don´t think there are too many users using Suunto watches in triathlon that’s why this is so unfrequent request but I really think this need a little of love.
We had glory days in triathlon.

@bulkan
Winter Triathlon:
run
bicycle
cross-country skisDuathlon:
run
bicycle
runIn winter, it is inconvenient to use the “multisport” mode instead of the “triathlon” mode.
I do not understand why the Garmin watch has this realized even at the clock of the lowest price segment, and Suunto cannot do this even on top models.
