        @brad_olwin What is the idea behind it? To me it makes much more sense to store the HR setting (wrist and sensor) in the sport mode as it used to be in a previous firmware version.

          @surfboomerang
          There’s a few posts about this behaviour, and asking for the logic, I myself have also wondered why.

          Suunto does what Suunto does; and from my observations rarely bows to customer requests or demands, except on those fairly rare occasions where a bug has been introduced. They may as @Brad_Olwin has pointed out on another thread listen to the request and build it into a new model, but even that is a rare event from what I have observed.

          I do love Suunto and have been using their products for some 25 years and will continue to do so but I never hold any hope of Suunto changing a course of direction once its out in the public domain.

            @t1sugar I think Suunto follows this forum more then we think, but due to the lack of communication we will never be sure. A lot of requested features were implemented eventually but we don’t know if it was because our requests or that they were already on their roadmap.

            However, I have rarely seen existing features get a change in behavior or got removed. HR setting behavior is one and now backlight behavior seems to be another. No idea if Suunto is open for feedback on those decisions.

              @surfboomerang I’m sure you’re right, and lets face it, it’s not a huge issue not knowing the what and why behind decisions and directions 🙂 it should be enough that the main functions of the watch work, and work well, hence why I love Suunto products.

              slightly off topic!
              I’m poised to get the new Peak (love my s9b but like the idea of having it in a smaller lighter package) just waiting to hear how folks are finding the gps chip performs and whether the WHR is any better in real world production version.

                    @surfboomerang I agree and suspect that it may be more difficult to implement than we think or is simply too low on priorities. For example on ski touring I would rather have the default as no HR. It is a hassle to put on a strap when layered up and I want the watch where I can see it so no OHR.

                      @brad_olwin No idea if it is difficult if it was there previously. I created my windsurf profile on my (old 😉 ) S9B years ago. Turned off HR because the recordings were highly inaccurate due to excessive wrist movement. The setting was off by default ever since.

                      Now that I have recreated the sport mode on my S9P the behavior changed and apparently I can’t set the default flag anymore because I can’t reach it from the settings. Although I suspect that the watch still supports it.

                        This is a very valid issue
