Field Testing experiences

Great work and video!! Congratulations to all!!

Except paragliding, I am a Suunto Tester .
But communication is not that good, I am still testing the pre alpha version of Spartan Ultra .
I always wondered and dreamt how to become a tester
Without official application process or knowing the right person who knows the right person… I am still wondering.
Btw, thanks for sharing this, it goes into a lot more communication from Suunto’s side -
I will also love to be Alpha tester of Suunto App. Not sure if I want to be Field Test (they work a lot )

@suzzlo
the dark side of the field testers paperwork no one talks about
-
I’d love to be a tester, but I’m not sure I’m active (or young) enough!
-
@wakarimasen
I think there’s a test plan and you need go through that process and report your observations. To me it is unlikely that you just go out and run.
Hence age and fitness level might be second priority… IMHO -
@freeheeler In that case, I’m in! Where do I sign?
-
@wakarimasen
it seems to be a secret… maybe there’s a stone with a sword stuck in it and who he pulls out the sword is listed as another field tester -
Another interest here
-
@freeheeler and the first part of the test is to find it using the navigation in your Suunto, I guess.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos very funny video, trully “familiar” side it seems!
Thanks for this share! -

-
@efejota Well, navigation capability is the whole reason I picked Suunto, so that part should be easy!
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos If you ever need a Southern Hemisphere field tester feel free to shout out (I’m from the South Island of New Zealand). As you probably know I’m a marathoner/ultrarunner that specialises in mountain races, so my watches definitely get put through their paces in some tough environments
FWIW I have been a Suunto user for over a decade and currently use my ever-reliable S9B in gold

For you guys who would like to work as field testers, I work in a different industry and people are often asking: “How do I get in?” I suspect the answer might be the same one here: demonstrate that you can already do the job to a high level and would be an asset to the company.
So in this case, first would be to find out how the testers do their work. As freeheeler said, I am sure the testers follow a documented test plan and so getting a job doing this might be much more about demonstrating ability to methodically work through such a test plan for a feature than being able to run 4 minute miles or fast ultras. It takes a certain dogged mindset and determination to maintain interest and focus when repeatedly doing the same thing over and over again.
It certainly looks like fun in the video though!

This kind of “work”, could be a dream for me, sometimes i just buy a thing only to test it!

I already have some experiences in this field of work. I had some beta electrolux carpet cleaners
