Notification issues, not silencing phone...

@Lars-Bengtsson Correct. Every time I set the watch to battery saver and back again, it stops silencing the phone, despite the toggle in WearOS on the phone being set to silence.
As I do this every night I have gotten used to jumping into the app and toggling the settings off and on again.
It’s a minor gripe and something I still think is a WearOS issue unfortunately. -
Update…
After the update from Suunto, no difference.
I’m waiting for the update to Android 11 from Oneplus, hoping that this will do the trick.
I’ve gotten used to having the settings like they are now, only thing that’s bugging me is that if I’m not wearing the watch Both the watch and phone are silent if I forget to turn off “do not disturb” on the phone…I wonder why Suunto couldn’t fix this issue with the latest update…

@lars-bengtsson you have lost me a bit there. But watch generally will be silent if DND is on the phone (depending on how you have set up your DND).
The watch, for most apps, runs off phone notifications, thus if they are off due to DND, you will not receive them on the watch - sort of makes sense.
If you want notifications on watch but not phone, then you need to use the silence phone option in the phones wear os app.Of course standalone watch apps like agenda etc will continue to notify as part of watch, its not a push through notification.

As I explained in the beginning I have to have the phone on dnd, silent or what ever you call it (it’s a oneplus 7 pro so I have the notification slider up on the right side of the phone all the way upp so the phone is silent, no vibrations or anything. And I get notifications on my watch. This is exactly like I want it when I’m wearing the watch. There is one problem with this"fix"; if I forget to slide the notification slider on the phone to get notification in sound and vibrations I will miss calls and texts and more, this has happened a few times and it is a bit frustrating. If I go into settings on the wear OS app and set The phone to silent when watch is on and I’m wearing it, the phone still gives me notifications, both in sound and vibrations. But the watch doesn’t always give me a notification. The notification is there on the watch, I can see the little dot at the bottom of the screen. This is apparently a glitch that has to do with Wear OS and the watch OS. Been in contact with support and they are aware of the issue. I was hoping that the latest update would fix this but no such luck.
Now I have to wait for Android 11 from Oneplus and maybe a update on the wear OS app from Google.Hope you understand my problem
If you have some tips or maybe even a fix for this issue I’m all ears. But please read the thread if you haven’t already so I don’t have to repeat myself.

@lars-bengtsson This isn’t wear os or Android - this is purely OnePlus.
That profile slide button is great, but it isn’t properly integrated into Android and that is what is causing the issue.I have similar problems with it, with other apps. I use a profile manager to create profiles and automatically switch them on and off i.e. set up a night one so no quite, wifi, data etc off, then early morning keeps quite but data wifi on and sync on, so pulls in all my email etc ready for me when i wake up. Just before wake up time, the profile switches back all volumes etc. this used to work great on my previous phone, but ever since got OnePlus it doesn’t. I have to use the slider every morning to switch from active to silent and back again . Personally would rather not have this feature as never use it - a profile switcher is a much better option, and or just as easy to adjust in quick settings. But is definitely linked to this slider and how they have tweaked android to make this work.
So no I don’t see a solution at any time in the future, as would require OnePlus to fix.

@jamie-bg But the problem was there before I started to use the slider. I started to used it to get notifications to work the way I wanted them to, just as they did with my other watches. The slider is just to silence the phone while the setting in Wear app for silencing phone is of because it doesn’t work for me.

I bought myself a Oneplus 8T this week and I’m sad to say that the problem persists even on Android 11.
I really hope Suunto is working on the issue. -
Update:
The issue remains. Been in contact with support for Suunto, Oneplus and Google but no help. Suunto is telling me to contact Oneplus and vice versa.
Frustrating to say the least.
Thinking of buying a different watch. -
@lars-bengtsson I just tested this on my Oneplus Nord and my Suunto 7. My Oneplus Nord is updated to Android 11 and I had the alert slider on Ring. In the Wear OS app I had selected that the phone should remain silent when receiving a phone call. When getting a phone call my phone’s display turned on, but there were no vibration and no ringing. My Suunto 7 did vibrate. I also tested it with the slider on Vibrate. Phone didn’t ring or vibrate, but watch did vibrate. So I guess I do not have the same issue that you have.

Notifications on my phone was loud and vibrating but on my watch some notifications wasn’t noticable at all.
I wish that Suunto could make an effort to resolve this issue and not just pass the responsibility on.
I have paid a significant amount of money for this watch and I had expected it to function fully with an android phone. -
@lars-bengtsson this is likely a conflict between OxygenOS and WearOS, I very much doubt it has anything to do with Suunto themselves.
I used to have a OnePlus 2 & 3T back in the day and they both constantly had connection issues with a number of wearables I was using at the time.
I would suggest going through all notification settings, in WearOS on the watch and phone, as well as within OxygenOS. Toggle them all on and off a few times, and check the results.
I think the hardware toggle on the phone does cause some issues with certain devices and/or nitifications (it used to cause me no end of problems).A quick question… do you regularly turn off the S7? or put it into battery saver mode?
I used to do this and it can confuse WearOS at times. I had to go into WearOS on the phone and toggle both silence notifications and call off and on again in quick succession. This would remedy the issue I had.As I said, this is a WearOS and OxygenOS issue, not Suunto.

It’s a conflict but between Suunto OS, Oxygen OS or Wear OS or both. That’s what Suunto support wrote to me just before they asked me to contact Oneplus about it.
That and the fact that I’ve had just about every Oneplus phone they’ve have made since they first started making smartphones and four different watches. One Sony, one Huawei, one ticwatch and now a Suunto7. And the S7 is the only one that I’ve had this kind of issues with, or any issues at all for that matter.
So I’m still pretty sure that Suunto has some blame in this matter.
I reboot my devices regularly and I set watch on theatre mode (is that what it’s called?) during the night just to make sure I don’t press any button’s och anything else when I sleep.
I test the settings that don’t work in wear os regularly, every times I see that Wear OS has updated or after every firmware update on the watch to check if there was been any changes.
I never turn the watch of and the only time it’s not on my wrist is when I charge it.
I’ve tried every tip and suggestion given in this thread and no luck. -
@lars-bengtsson SuuntoOS is a new one to me, the S7 runs on WearOS. But I’m by no means a developer, just a consumer like you are.
I used to have similar issues to you in that when I put the watch into battery saver mode (effectively disconnecting it from the phone) overnight, upon reconnection it would notify n both the phone and watch. I would go into the WearOs app on the phone and toggle the silence notifications off and on again in quick succession without leaving that screen. Worked every time.
This leads me to believe it is something in WearOS that is at fault.
Like you, I have had a wide range of devices, but they all ran either different versions of WearOS, Android, OxygenOS, OneUI, or something else entirely. I have experience numerous conflicts between devices (don’t get me started on my Withings watch )
If you haven’t yet tried what I did then I would recommend giving that a try.
If you have, then there is a chance that one (or both) of your devices is faulty.(could always try a factory reset of each device in turn?)

Maybe it isn’t called OS but I’m pretty sure there some kind of adaptation of Wear OS to make it work with Suunto 7 and that is what I mean by Suunto OS. There was something about the Suunto app in the email I got from Suunto support, some conflict there as well. I will check my inbox tomorrow and se if I can find it.
I never put my watch in batterysaver mode, I’ve tried toggle the settings in Wear OS on and off several times in many different scenarios.
I had a Oneplus 7 pro before I bought this Oneplus 8T and I tried factory resetting that one a couple of times but it didn’t work. I have only had my 8T for a little over a month and I won’t reset this one if I’m not more convinced it’ll fix the issue.
I’ve factory reset the S7 several times also buy no luck.
I literally have tried every tip or suggestion that I’ve received in this discussion thread.
It’s alot to ask to read everything and I can’t remember if you have taken part in the discussion before but the suggestions you have for me has been mentioned before.

@lars-bengtsson ah, fair enough. I don’t know the ins and outs of how all the software works, I just assumed WearOS was WearOS as it can’t be skinned like Android can on phones.
Factory resetting any device is a faff and I fully understand not being keen to do it if not absolutely necessary.
I haven’t used a recent OnePlus, do they still have the hardware toggle for switching to vibrate/silent/etc.? Have you tried toggling that?

Yes they do have the hardware switch on the phones. This is what I use to make it work the way I want to. I set the phone on silent with the switch and then there is only notifications through the watch. But this affects the sound on the phone in general, media volume and such are completely silent and gave to be turned on. -

@lars-bengtsson I still say I think it has more to do with Oneplus slider integration, and I say this as I use profiles on my phone, and whenever I use that to automatically trigger the DND on my phone at night, the next morning I always have to use my slider to reset volumes, as switching DND off doesn’t seem to automatically reset volumes. Have even tried to get the profile app to adjust volumes, but just will not rework them once DND been triggered (never had this issue on previous phones), so to me considering that only the slider will resolve this issue, it is linked to Oneplus and how they have programmed the slider - and not due to android or wear os.

@jamie-bg I don’t think so, I don’t have any problems with volumes not restoring them self after slider DND. Andrew the only reason I use the slider us because I have issues with the function “silence phone while wearing watch” in Wear OS app.

I agree.
I did some googling a while ago but didn’t find anything helpful. Will look deeper into it some more when I have time to spare
