Which is your favourite S9 strap?

@isazi do you know if silicone straps Athletic 1 or textile straps could do the trick regarding small wrists ? Are they a good substitute ?
-
@Tom
For sure athletic1 can be bind to 90° as it can pivot on the pin, as the spartan strap
You can even go for one of these: https://www.suunto.com/en-gb/Products/Straps/suunto-24mm-explore-silicone-strap/suunto-24mm-explore-1-silicone-strap-black-black-size-m/ -
@Tom like you I didn’t enjoy the original strap, and used a silicone one until I could get the velcro textile.
-
@isazi
maybe it’s soon available from alternative suppliers? -
@isazi velcro straps in black and red colors are available on suunto local site. So might be these straps are temporarily vanished in some stores. If suunto aims to get velcro out from stores i would be hurry on buying one or two spare straps then. The main pros as i can see are no skin discomfort and increased accuracy of WHR measurements.
-
@Atlen I can’t see them anymore in NL, but I hope they’ll keep making them.

Velcro is so good. The new one with the S7 and the soft one are too.
What I really miss is a metal strap. Titanium one. A premium for a premium watch.
-
@Tom I have a small wrist. The best is the Velcro.
-
In a search of a substitute… has someone ever compared classic textile straps and velcro ? Is it better than silicon or worst than silicone and velcro ?
-
@Tom for me is this order: velcro>textil>silicone with holes (see image)>the s7 silicone strap.
-
Velcro strap is my favorite too, was lucky to get the black and red when they were in stock in Mexico , looking forward to buy the new ultra-soft microfiber strap if Suunto ever sells them separately
-
@Bulkan I have the white version of that but the holes actually cause some irritation after a while during activities.
-
@isazi i will contact local official retailer after Russian holidays to clarify perspective availability of velcro straps. If something valuable received then be glad to leave the comment here.

There seem to be original Suunto velcro straps in stock in Australia. Too bad they won’t ship to Europe

How secure is the fit of the velcro straps? Does it take a lot of effort/force to get it off your wrist?
I once lost an Ambit 3 during windsurfing because in a move I bumped my wrist which caused the buckle to break and guess what… Ambits can’t swim
Now I use the original silicone strap that came with the S9B, but I secure the strap with an extra wrist strap because I’m pretty confident S9’s also can’t swim.
If I could replace the strap with a velcro one it would be great (and a better fit).

My favorite strap for winter runs, where Suunto adds + one longer strap so you can wear the watch on your clothes![0_1610107853545_IMG_20210108_130747.jpg](Uploading 91%)![0_1610110934043_IMG_20210108_130747.jpg](Uploading 91%)![0_1610111011524_IMG_20210108_130747.jpg](Uploading 89%)![0_1610270854140_IMG_20210108_130747.jpg](Uploading 96%)

Hi guys. My two cents here I bought my S9 (non-baro) with a lime silicon strap ( https://www.suunto.com/Products/Straps/suunto-24mm-athletic-silicone-strap/suunto-24mm-athletic-3-silicone-strap-lime-black-size-m/ ). I use this one for most of the sports and I love it. But for daily use I also don’t find silicon straps too comfortable.
I have bought Suunto velcro strap (I have two: lime and black). They’re much better for daily use, but not as elastic as I would prefer. They still feel a bit stiff, even after several months of use…
Around a year ago someone mentioned the Hook Strap by Nick Mankey (https://nickmankeydesigns.com/all-hook-straps) in a facebook group and I gave this one a try. It’s marvellous! Soft, elastic, the watch sticks to your wrist like glued without feeling any pressure
Even though it’s so stretchy, the watch stays firmly at my wrist and doesn’t move when I shake my hand…The design seems slightly weird at the first time, but once you get used to it, you’ll love it. Changing the strap is slightly slower than with the original Suunto straps because the spring bars are not attached to the strap (from time to time they jump out of my hands while changing and I spent some time trying to find them on the floor ). But I still exchange this strap with a silicon one almost every day when I go running without any significant problems.
There’s only one disadvantage (actually quite a big one): Suunto uses non-standard bolt-action spring bars that are thicker. Those ones provided with the hook strap are a bit too thin for S9. I have visited Suunto service center in Prague and they sold me the Suunto ones for a total of ~ 10 EUR. Optionally, you can probably extract the Suunto spring bars from an original Suunto strap if you have one that you don’t use.

@inkognito this looks awesome.

@inkognito
Can you post a pic of the pins, by the side of the watch, please.
