Suunto 9non baro elevation gain problem
-
Hi, I want to ask you, if you know. I have new Suunto 9 watch. I got them for in the end of December. I have some doubts, that the elevation gain doesn’t count properly. I mean that the watch shows right altitude data, even when it differs, it goes right. But it doesn’t count in the elevation gain. Do you have some recommendations, what to do?

@Runner Doesn’t count at all? (0 m ascent, 0 m descent) -> you use battery mode with lower GPS accuracy. Ascent/descent is only calculated when you use Performance mode or Custom with Best GPS accuracy.
Does it count less? -> This is due to treshold - you need to ascent/descent 7 m continously (within some time) to have this counted. If you for example ascent 5 m and descent 5 m immediatelly after that, nothing is counted. This filter was implemented to deal with lower precision of elevation data based only on GPS. BARO version of S9 is generally more accurate.

@Runner and if you have the baro version the threshold is of 3 meters

@inkognito Thanks for explaining! That would be the problem.
