@wandern Say anything negative you want! I wish the app had true multiwatch support, it does not. I also wish the app could integrate better with Apple Health, it does a poor job.

For me it sucks that it doesn’t have pois or bigger charts on iOS.

And hey @wandern you are welcome.

@isazi That’s clearly impossible just by definition since the posts no longer exist on the forum or in my profile.

Several months ago I posted two messages questioning Suunto’s choice to eliminate Movescount while the Suunto App remained deeply crippled. Movescount could be used on my 27" display and allowed syncing watches without the need of a cellphone (my kids don’t have cellphones, but they do have multiple Suunto watches). The Suunto App removes an enormous amount of Movescount’s functionality, only allows connection to a single watch at a time, forces one to view data on a screen not much bigger than the watch itself, and finally requires a phone (or a limited number of tablets, on which it still displays a 3" view).

As a long time loyal Suunto customer, I feel betrayed in many ways - the removal of existing software support that has minimal cost to Suunto (cloud fees), being forced to purchase cellphone or tablets to sync existing watches, and the inability to visualize move data without a microscope.

Beyond that, I think that Suunto has really lost sight of its roots by completely abandoning the market it staked out with the Ambit series.

The worst - to me - is that when a customer brings up these completely legitimate concerns, they’re too often met with a litany of dismissive responses.

Although I don’t know Suunto’s revenue contribution to Amer Sports, I can say with absolute certainty that the choices the company and management have made over the past few years are quickly reducing the brand to a niche, regional player in low to mid-range watches - which is where prestige, profit, and innovation are the lowest, and competition the most intense.

I spend an enormous amount of time outdoors, and I haven’t seen a new Suunto watch in the field in over a year. If a loyal customer can no longer in good conscience recommend Suunto - and the company almost universally refuses to give customers a meaningful roadmap, and makes major product line decisions in a seemingly capricious manner, I do not hold high hopes for the future.

I will gladly admit that some of the Suunto 9 Baro firmware updates have added some nice functionality to the watch - but most of that functionality should have been present (or at least on a roadmap) at release time. To me, it feels like these updates are a too-late too-little response to customer pressure.

I hope that I’m completely wrong about Suunto and its future direction, but the slow motion trainwreck of the Suunto App / Movescount transition seems symbolic of company management these days.

          Sincerely,
A Suunto user with over $5,000 of Suunto watches in the house.

@wandern long response, probably agreeable by many Ambit users, still zero accounts of deleting messages in the forum.

@Mff73 No, the posts were specifically about the mid-year Movescount transition update announcement and the coming requirement that all Suunto users would need to buy phones to continue to sync data from their watches (my kids participate in sports, and use their watches daily, but don’t have phones). I don’t want to dwell on this because it won’t change anything.

I can check at the logs but since I am the only admin here noone has deleted any of your posts.

Could you help me with the date (around) you made them ?

@wandern well I don’t find very nice you to say something as radical as that mods are deleting your posts from the forum, and then say “oh whatever”. There is no way anyone deleted one of your posts unless you are a spammer, and you are clearly not.

Now maybe there is a misunderstanding with the fact that you only see the latest 10 posts in your profile (like every user), but that does not mean they are deleted, just use the search function. Your same profile says that you have 19 posts.

@wandern Nothing wrong with what you say here, these are legitimate issues. Whether an individual agrees with them or not is another question but, nothing here that would make any moderator delete a post.

@isazi That’s hilarious! @wandern has suggested that all criticism is summarily deleted so it follows that they are unable to provide proof. While I will also always want proof any time criticisms are made, in this case I am inclined to agree with criticisms of Suunto products and have learned my lesson. I won’t be buying again. This has been an expensive piece of junk. Additionally with the CCP’s behaviour around the world lately I can’t condone buying Chinese products any more. I will always want to know how much of any product comes from China. And for what it’s worth it just makes me more suspicious when it’s so difficult to find criticisms of the product.

Suunto is Finnish company and almost all watches are made in Finland.

@jocksta870 no post has been deleted that was not malicious spam, and I don’t care what you believe and how hilarious it sounds to you, when you accuse someone you must present proofs. Period. Otherwise it is spreading FUD.

And finding criticism of Suunto on this forum is not easy, it is so easy that you may randomly open a post and finding some.

Better not buy a Garmin watch or Coros, Apple products or probably all Android phones, or for that matter most electronics. I suspect it will be difficult for you to find what you need. As @pavel-samokha said…unusual but true that Suunto has its own factory in Finland, I believe that is one reason why the products are durable and reliable.

As for criticism, you can find it in just about any post, try looking for praise, that is in short supply…

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I’ll take your word for that. Let’s just assume that it was a ‘site error’ that caused the posts to disappear. I really can’t remember when I made the posts; looking at my notes, it may have been in March of this year, but I just can’t say with certainty.

@Brad_Olwin Do you remember the Ambit3 Peak days? People raved about the watches. I pulled mine out yesterday just to fiddle around with it, and, not even counting the absolutely amazing GPS antenna, it’s amazing the thought and features that went into its software design. I probably sold a dozen of them just by showing people that “yes, I can skip the next waypoint on my track-back with a button push”.

@pavel-samokha For what it’s worth, the fact that Suunto watches are made in Finland (or at least the ones I am interested in) was a major factor to me when I started buying them years ago…

@wandern I remember the T6 days and feel the same about the S9B, the latter beats the Ambit3P (I still have it) by a mile for me. I would never go back.

Certainly not if you’ve just saved a move, aren’t using the S+ SAFE and don’t have your phone.
