Does anyone know is it possible to backup watch configurations made in Suunto App? My Suunto 9 has gone to a state that it needs to be reseted and when doing this the Suunto App is losing all the Sport Mode modifications I have made, which is insane. Can this really be so?
No, currently there is no backup configuration saved in SA. If you reset your watch you have to configure it again.
Also any idea about tags situation as now the Movescount is going down and still nothing? I am quite amazed on Suunto’s way to ramp down service before the new one is not even close where it should be…
According to what read on this forum, tags are not a planned feature for SA.

@isazi Really about the tags. Insane as it was promised at first and as you can’t change the names of certain sports how you can differentiate eg. indoor sports without tags?
In all honesty quite disappointed to Suunto after 20y of usage. Feels that it is time to move to other brands

I don’t know if it was promised. There is a feature request in this forum, this is as much as I know.

and for backup, it could be very good to have for sure.

There was an earlier request for Tags. If you scroll near the beginning you can see how many tags I used and had…very sad this feature is gone.

@Brad_Olwin
And what is tag? Just a word, linked to one workout and stored in user data to be reused, with UI option to choose it. -

And what is tag? Just a word, linked to one workout and stored in user data to be reused, with UI option to choose it.The super cool feature in MC was you could select the tag and get all the exercises associated with that tag, for example, a pair of shoes, pair of skis, a place that I visit occasionally, or distance. It was a fantastic search feature if used when you started recording exercises, I had a lot of tags implemented. I used them to keep track of gear, I could tell how much I used a watch, etc. So the answer is yes.

@Brad_Olwin
Yes, sorry my comment was not clear enough tag feature should not be that difficult to implement : some more fields in database and some UI to let user choose tags and filters. -
@Mff73 I would love to have the app backup sports mode in case of a reset, even if a reset is not a frequent thing.
-
@isazi Yes, yes, freakin’ yes. Don’t have an S9B but for any device that might go seriously wrong in the field and can rely so heavily on those kinds of modes, please have maximum, nearest restoration available. Possible to restore slowly, manually, I guess but a bit of a bore, no?

@Mff73
To minimize db changes I guess that can be added using some sort of hashtag to be inserted in the description -

It is horribly inefficient, it makes the description a mess and the tags do not autocomplete so it is a real hassle. I have reverted to adding tags to TrainingPeaks, which I should have been doing all along but wasn’t.

@Fenr1r
I see myself spending an entire friday night to setup my S9B to needs again…
backup of settings can’t be that difficult… even nova launcher on android has it -
@TELE-HO it should also be a user decision if to use or not the backup. If you reset your watch because something is messing with its behavior, you may not want to reuse your previous configuration.
-
@TELE-HO I hear you, spending my New Years day doing this because of an error during the Firmware 2.13.18 update
