SSWHRB Run Interval setting not working!
-
@john-lawson-0 I strongly agree. I love this. I don’t understand why some people need a dfined warmup.
Also teasing @Luís-Pinto
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos Just to anwser.
FACT - 24th MARCH 2015 Suunto launch workout planner for Ambit 3/Run with a integrate solution for people that want to use warm-up or no. -
@luís-pinto I dont get it man. Warm up is there already and cool down. What are you talking about? Its marked at your laps table.
-
@luís-pinto Just hit start and end your intervals.
Noone should really need a precice warmup and cooldown by the second.
The point of the warmup and the cooldown is to be variant.
That said I please you to explain to me what the benefit would be…
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos The question is to have option. To have a timescale definied by yourself. If you want define on a program the fields warm-up and cool-down or rest is up to you. The benefit is written is all manuals for running.
-
Let’s debating lol!!
I love the actual way that the interval is implemented, it’s possible to group warm-up, interval and cool down in the same activity.
About the warm-up
When you want to do an interval training, warm-up is advisable by every coach, plan and program.
Body need to be prepared for the effort: Blood vessels start to expand, heart progressively go fast, muscles start to warm.
Try to do a 30s/30s interval training when you’re cold and when you’re hot, you’ll see the difference of performance if your don’t finish injured.
And please don’t tell me than a lion never war-up before hunting a gazelle , we’re not lions and if we need to run as fast as we can for a real urgency we will do it without warm-up.
But if you go for just a run, ok you can skip the warm-up.IMHO.
-
But the case is not about having or not having a warmup but rather programming it. I don’t think lions say 5m warmup guys and then we attack the gazzelles.
@Luís-Pinto still I don’t understand what option is removed or missing ? The automatic start of intervals perhaps ? Because that is the only thing that warmup as you describe it is good for.

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos said in SSWHRB Run Interval setting not working!:

Sorry if don’t understand your words.
-
@gabriel-s why a precise warm up is needed.
In short what is the difference:
- 15 minute warmup and I start the intervals
- 15 minute warmup and the intervals start automatically
That’s what it’s all about.
I have used all solutions by polar and Garmin and I never liked it when intervals started automatically for me.
It stresses me up, sometimes it does not need to start yet or needs to start sooner.
How would you start sooner a interval session if it’s bound to start at 15m let’s say?
So let me ask:
How do you do your warmup? When you define a 15m warmup do you follow that to the second ? And does 1sec or 1 minute delay for example destroy your warmup.
What are trying to solve here? What does not work ok?
What is exactly the problem? Because in my understanding there is none except @Luís-Pinto request for structured intervals which is completely out of scope here no?I understand @Luís-Pinto request to have a workout planner or whatever fit him as a user , but still since it’s not there aren’t we now repeating over a non existent problem over a feature that is not available (structed workouts )
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos I do not want to argue with you about this. It’s off topic. I understand.
My humble contribution to this subject is given in the appropriate place.
I will not disturb your discussion any longer.Good weekend for all community!
-
@luís-pinto hehe
We are nicely debating man. The structure intervals or a workout planner I am missing as well a lot.
Let’s focus on that. That should have all the things you want.
And perhaps something extra : a free slot for free recovery for exmaple. (seeing your description I think is the only thing that is missing if not mistaken)
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos Sorry for my bad intervention, i had misunderstood what you have said. There’s no problem and i’m agree with you launching interval manually is better.
-
@gabriel-s no need for sorry man.
Everyone can have any opinion. And we must respect each other’s. -
@luís-pinto @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I am on Dimitrios side on this. With the warm-up/cool down locked in you have no choice…on streets stoplights could completely screw up the workout whether on a bike or running. What would be great is to have variability in the intervals, which is not there yet. And alarms for intensity zones!!! But, the solution now is pretty good. A workaround solution for you @Luís-Pinto might be to set up a custom workout with interval screens on one set and lap screens on the other. You could manually lap set the warm-up and cool-down, then use the interval set for the intervals. I have this setup for my intervals that I use the Stryd for.
The top is interval duration, the middle power and the bottom interval count so all I see is what I need when running intervals. The top and bottom show as blank unless intervals are running. You could do the same for a second screen but set it for laps instead of intervals and use the second screen for warmup and cooldown. A workaround but pretty flexible.
-
@brad_olwin Here is also mine:
I have on the first screen a setup for manual laps.
In this case I can combine automatic intervals with manual intervals
Also keep in mind:
When you start the intervals the first lap (the one that completes before intervals start) is a warmup and the one after is a cooldown.
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos I just run to where I am doing intervals and then start, then run back to the start after the intervals if I can run…I guess that is a cool down. I am pretty bad about the cool down but do make sure I am warmed up before I start intervals. Combining with manual laps would provide warm up and cool down of specified intensities. I used to do timed, specified step warm ups for bike racing but I like ultra running much better…stand around at the start trying to stay warm until it is time to race…plenty of intervals on the course.
-
@brad_olwin yeah exactly the same.
I had a bad experience first time I had setted up the intervals on my M400.I had warmup set to 5m according to my coach. Well 5m where not enough to reach the place I could actually perform. Unfortunately in Polars you cannot reset the intervals or re-setem up.
That ruined my training.
