Sunto SPARTAN SPORT WRIST HR altitude problem

Are you using Strava? You can correct altitude there (no way sync back again to SA or Spartan)

@sartoric i think it should still show the right altitude or less deviations. I also tried factory reset the watch. we’ll see what happens. Do you have any suggestions?

@Jan-Polanec do you mean that the current altitude during your activities is 200 meters off, or that the overall ascent/descent is 200 meters off?

@Jan-Polanec Besides @isazi question, take into consideration that you should always use GPS in best recording.
But as @sartoric says if altitude/ascent is very important for you, barometer is your friend. As an example I usualy run with a friend that uses an Ambit 3 run, without barometer and he can be arround 100 m low on ascent regarding me (I have an S9B), and I know my ascent is correct because is the same (similar) that gives my bike computer from another brand.

OK 200m off over how many meters ascent/descent? I mean what do you expect to have in this move? Because with my friend the differences can be very high in a short hilly run but proportionaly smaller in a longer hilly run. I mean, in a 12 km run I can get around 400 m ascent and my friend around 320/330 m but then in a 20 km I can get 700 m and he 650 m. Due to the treshold differences between the baro and non baro in runs with lots of relative small climbs it is normal to have more differences than in a steady/long uphill.

example: my friend has a 700 m ascent per 70 km of cycling on the same route as me, and I have a 500 m ascent

@Jan-Polanec can you maybe post the altitude graph of said route?
Without this it is very difficult to say much, except what already said. You measure 70% of your friend’s ascent, but is this for a big climb, few big climbs, or for rolling terrain?
I would say that if this difference is for a single climb, then it may probably be too much, however may not be too much over rolling terrain (700 meters spread over 70 km is basically nothing).
Your non baro watch needs at least 7 continuous meters of ascent before registering any ascent.

@Jan-Polanec I had the same problem and most of my issue with this is that you have to manually correct the data after upload to Strava every time and thus all your data in Suunto is less accurate. I recommended a Suunto platform improvement that Polar and Garmin already employ on theirs and makes life much better for folks not wanting to spend more $$ on baro watches. There are plenty of people out there that don’t need super precise ascent values during the activity but would like their data after to be correct for analysis. Ultimately I went with the S9Baro because I have lots of little hills where I live that I want accurate measurement on.
