@gazaman77 Suunto 9 BARO of course …
-
Sorry, I didn’t think of using the search. I just scrolled back to see if I could find anything.
Yeah thanks for the baro 9 votes . I’m swaying more towards the baro 9 anyway. Do all the baro 9s have the same features etc? I ask because I can get a baro 9 Lime for £350 which seems to be cheaper than all the other variants.
-
@gazaman77 You may check out their spec from the Suunto website. There are 2 variants - 9 and 9 Baro. 9 is without the barometer and is cheaper.
-
@gazaman77 I would read some reviews for the for the GritX. There are quite a few out. If following a route is of primary importance then the GritX only uses Komoot, so you will have to pay to get coverage. From my understanding (I don’t have one) routes are not nearly as well developed as Suunto and there are no waypoints. The S9b has zoom for routes, waypoints and Suunto has a lot of heatmaps. The GritX has workout planning and better workout analysis than the S9 so it depends on your needs.
-
@Brad_Olwin The Grit X has navigation even without Koomot only the Turn by Turn only works with Koomot. Nevertheless, navigation at Suunto is of course better.

@Kurt68 I actually like the idea of using something like kamoot and being able to just upload routes to the watch without the use of a laptop. Am I able to upload a route to the watch with the suunto 9 just using my phone also?
And am I right in thinking the suunto 9 will give me all the notifications that I get to my phone, or is it limited?Cheers

When Suunto 9 is syncing to Suunto App on your phone it also syncs routes from app to the watch

It’s configured in Suunto App

You can download gpx from Komoot app and import it to Suunto App.
Also Suunto App now has public API to upload routes…

@pavelsamokha thanks mate.
I’m assuming the only difference with the lime version I’ve ordered is the colour of the strap? It seems strange that this Lime version seems to be so much cheaper when the straps can be easily changed!?! I’ve tried searching for comparisons but can’t find any with the 9 BARO lime. -
@gazaman77
S9 is without baro and cheap like chips compared to S9 baro that gives accurate altitude readings and has storm alarm -
@gazaman77 I was a little too slow there, but I see that all your questions have already been answered

Was wondering if it was missing any features etc. Im hoping it’s just because of the band then I’ll just swap it out at some point.
Cheers

My S9 Baro turned up today and first impressions are good.
I think my biggest disappointment is the volume of the tone. I would have preferred the option to turn it up but it’s not a biggy and I can live with it.
The quality of the display is far better than I expected and I really like the look and feel of the watch.
Just wondering if I should get a screen protector now. -
@gazaman77 no screen protector needed. Mine is over a year old and I am rough.
-
Thanks @Brad_Olwin that’s good to know. I’ll not bother getting one then.
After a full day wearing it, one thing I have noticed is the step counter seems very sensitive. It certainly tracks more steps than my previous watches, sometimes counting 50% more than actual.
I really only use steps as a comparison from one day to another though so as long as it’s consistently out, it’ll be fine. -
@gazaman77 I think you will find recovery time works fairly well. Once you accumulate some time, your daily activity is added there too. I agree, the steps are a bit sensitive but I do not pay attention to steps anyway.
-
@Brad_Olwin thanks mate. I assume you mean recovery after an exercise.
I really don’t understand the stress and recovery screen to be honest. I’ve looked at some articles and it states that while ever you are relaxing etc then the bar would show in colour as you are “recovering” your resources. Yet currently my status is “inactive” and the bar is still grey and not colour.
Does anyone have a dummies guide to this feature
Thanks
Gaz
