Suunto Plus Crash / Stability + lost AGPS file
-
@mountainChris You should not be having this happen, I use SuuntoPlus with almost every run and do not have crashes. You should also get an AGPS file when syncing again. Force quit the app on your iPhone. If that does not help do a soft reset on the watch. I assume you are on the latest firmware. If this happens again try to write down the steps to replicate. If I can replicate the crash I will report this as a bug.

I have been using all 3 S+ TP features with stryd wind and Powertap P1 pedals without any issues and with multiple hour durations on various terrains. They turn up same on TP web site providing you match settings data and zones.
I photograph battery charge before and after and see no noticeable difference in battery consumption.
I did have to erase all my sport modes and re make them after latest fw update.
There are however times although rarely when I do not get green status for my gps and power pods after fiddling with pre excercise options, so I exit sport mode and try again and it works. So I cannot reproduce problem reliably.

@Brad_Olwin ok. thanks. yes, I will try it everyday to get statistics behind… hope with next update it goes away…

@Brad_Olwin @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
I’m sad, it is repeatable. I cannot use Suunto Plus anymore. There are no special steps. Just Update AGPS. Start Training. Fast Connection. Choose Suunto Plus. CRASH. Watch restarts. Watch says GPS N/A and cannot be synced anymore whole day. This is a SW issue which obviously is not on all watches…
What can I do? I have also a video clip… Do I have to send the watch to Suunto? Or reset everything? Maybe next Firmware brings help? Does it come soon?
-
@mountainChris I would contact support to be safe, there could be something wrong with your watch as I haven’t heard others report that S+ crashes their watches.

I assume you are on the latest firmware and cannot remember if you have done a hard reset, restore to factory. If you have then there is something wrong and I would contact support. It is likely they will want you to return the watch.

@Brad_Olwin thanks. Definitely latest sw. Hard reset is via Suunto link or? Not upper button? This, I did not do and I can try. Do my configurated training screens stay saved in SA and sync afterwards on fresh watch?Thanks!
-
@mountainChris yes the hard reset is via Suuntolink, but no your personalized sport modes get lost when you do a hard reset, you’ll have to create them again in SA.
-
@mountainChris If you have not done a hard reset you should. I take screenshots of my custom sport modes to recreate them prior to a hard reset.

Couple days ago, I start having GPS connectivity issues too. The watch wouldn’t get GPS signal for 15 min… today, I noticed that GPS was also having issues to connect and then when it finally gets the signal, GPS data was way off my path. I checked AGPS and the last time it was updated more than 10 days ago (even though I synchronize iOS app every other day). I decided to sync it again, but sync with phone didn’t help, and the AGPS date was still off the current date. The only thing that helped me was to connect and to sync the watch with laptop

@sohajr do you have latest SW?
There were 2 SA IOS Updates. I did not do the hard rest because of time at the moment. But I try everyday. And today Suunto Plus worked. Also fast GPS with file. Very cool. so this is random or it was a bug in SA which was corrected in latest updates. Will try further every day.

Excellent!!! Let us know if you have issues. I don’t blame you, a hard reset is a PITA to deal with.

No crash anymore (that’s fine)
-
@mountainChris I use SuuntoPlus almost every run and I cannot remember the last time I had a crash. I use SA for AGPS and just do not have this problem.
-
@Brad_Olwin just out of curiosity, how are you using suunto plus?
-
@stromdiddily in the options menu before training… (where GPS / HR connects) lower button…
For me now solved… No Issue anymore for me… Thanks
-
@stromdiddily I’m no Brad, but I can say that recently I have used the Strava relative effort to see if I was on target for weekly load.

Hmmmmm, I can’t really answer that without violating an NDA. Eventually you will find out but I am not having problems with SuuntoPlus. I use the TrainingPeaks ones frequently, not a fan of Strava so don’t use that one.
-
@Brad_Olwin juicy
-
@stromdiddily Well, given the surveys on SuuntoPlus and the marketing on the Suunto site regarding SuuntoPlus, what do you think Suunto is doing? Not too hard to make guesses on that one is it?
