Suunto Spartan Ultra freezing problem
-
@Brad_Olwin thanks for the tip! I will try it although today I ran with the original running mode. I had the custom mode in the watch but I didn’t use it for the 10 km.
The strange thing is that I always used this custom sport mode that I have now. The only change that I did recently was turning off the watch GPS* and adding the respective display with 7 data fields.
*With the beginning of the Pandemic Covid-19, I stayed almost a month without running outside. So for training indoor, I decided to turn off the GPS. Now that I returned with my runnings outside, I started to have this freezing problem.
@isazi and @surfboomerang maybe is something related to the latest software 2.8.32 that is messing around with the hardware.

@Diogo-Baena As I said, I have had custom modes become corrupted for no reason that I can see. I would delete the mode from the shortlist on the watch if it is a standard mode and retry it. These glitches occur, not often. If none of this helps then I would contact support.
-
Ok, thanks once again. I will try it tomorrow and if fails I will use the contact support.

Hi everyone, I already used the contact support of Suunto. I got the tip to reset the watch once again and turn off the “Feelings” of the sport mode that I wanted to use. I did it all yesterday and the Suunto froze one more time.
One interesting thing:
The freezes happened in a small area (it’s a parking lot) very close to a military zone. I did 14 runnings there because of the Corona Virus (I never had run there before). The only runnings that didn’t freeze were the ones that had distances shorter than 10 km (7,2 / 5,4 / 6,0 / 5,2 km)In this period I also did three runnings through the city where I live. None froze and all had more than 10 km (14,1 / 14,4 / 13,6 km)
So this put me thinking about the place. Maybe there’s something in the Military area that interferes with the Suunto Spartan Ultra…

IFAIK, the bug related to the on / off feeling occurred during the saving phase, while if my poor english doesn’t deceive me, your screen freeze while you run.
I really don’t think the military zone has anything to do with it, I would now resign myself to assistance. -
Yes @Saketo-Nemo , the freezing happens while I run.
-
@Diogo-Baena
Do you still use android app from movescount? -
@zvonejan no, I don’t use Movescount for a long time.
-
No more runs at the parking lot (close to the military zone), no more watch freezings. The problem is solved!
In these past few days, I ran various distances between 10 and 19 kilometers through the city where I live and I have never had the problem again.
I bet there’s something in this military zone that interferes with Suunto’s GPS signal…
-
@Diogo-Baena there is a chance they have GPS jammers, don’t know how they crash your watch though
-
@Diogo-Baena As a matter of curiosity, does the zone affect other GPS devices? Location/track-generating apps on any smartphone you might have?
-
@isazi yes I believe so.
Normally the freezing happened after 38 to 47 minutes (10 km) of running in the parking lot so maybe it is related to the signal time.
-
@Fenr1r I never tried other GPS in the parking lot. I wasn’t used to running there. I only did it recently because of the Corona Virus.
But it’s an interesting thing to try!
