Spartan sport whr battery life with 24/7 hr monitoring turned off
-
I’ve recently tried experimenting with turning continuous hr off since this data isn’t saved and theoretically it burns thru a lot of battery life. not having to charge every 3 days with daily GPS use would be a nice thing. however when I recently did this the battery burn rate on my SSSWHR was about the same with it off as with it on. it burned thru about 16% battery in 14 hours with HR off and notifications on and no GPS activities or other sport activities used. Suunto claims 7 days with HR and notifications however at this burn rate we are talking more like 3.6 days. Moreover when I woke up this am the screen required a soft reset and the HR monitor was measuring even when I confirmed the setting was still off! what is going on with this? I know notifications do use up battery but HR should too; it defies all logic when it comes to battery life. (on latest firmware available)

@Matthew-Pierce I’d do a soft reset, full charge, and try again. If it fails, a full reset might be a good thing to try, just to make sure you start with a clean slate. Also, I’d look into your Suunto’s app battery/Bluetooth usage.
Switched back recently to my Spartan since it’s giving me better OHR than S9. With all tracking off, 24/7 HR and sleep and stuff, it was dropping no more than 12-15% a day. So, about six-seven days should definitely be possible.

I used mine for a while without 24/7 and it was able to last 7 days at least (afair) with some activities (maybe GPS too for max 1/2 hour a week)
so give a try to soft reset and battery calibration

Thanks @NickK that is helpful. I’ll try some of these strategies out.
