Future S9 firmware wishlist summary

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos yesterday i made a quick test with oficial GPS FW (3 systems). Have to agree to your considerations. Navstar was the best. Glonass did not help (opposite) and Galileo even worst. At begining the results was great. But something with corrections are not good. Don’t understand what is happening. One sign that there are problems is that they don’t published anymore performance reports (last one is from Q3 2019: https://www.gsc-europa.eu/sites/default/files/sites/all/files/Galileo-IS-OS-Quarterly-Performance_Report-Q3-2019.pdf). The system seems frozen. Since shutdown in summer 2019 things are much worst. At meanwhile BDS have 43 operational sats (https://www.glonass-iac.ru/en/BEIDOU/). Managing systems seems the key to get good results.

Is even more sad when you spent in system more than 13 bilion € with EU citizen taxes…

@Luís-Pinto I still hope they’ll achieve their goal! I’ll keep testing when back in Amsterdam, but skiing in Serbia I had amazing tracks with Galileo. Of course, on open ski slopes should not be that difficult to have great tracks anyway
-
In Canary Islands Galileo works pretty well. Glonass don’t work well.
-
@Bulkan glonass never worked well for me. But Gal in begining worked well and now don’t. In somehow can be related with 2019 in summer event that put system off for more than 10 days. It was restored, but news about system is frozen. I even test Gal alone with a chipset dual freq capable (not in sportwatch) and results seems most worst.

@Bulkan Litle test.
- Green line: real track;
- Orange: nav;
- Blue: nav+gal;
- Pink: nav+glonass;
At some point blue was right, but inital and final segment completed off, pink especially last segment very off.

One think that should be thinking is these all systems are rational from economic perspective point of view? Why we cannot have a unified global system (40-50 sats) that save money for real causes (hunger, diseases, life quality)? Political and militar issues?

Because world is not like that.
Military first, then citizens if available, and each big countries their own system to be safe. That is life. -
@Luís-Pinto
… you’re so right, I fully agree…
the world is growing together but because of various and for me not acceptable reasons politicians start to just take care of them selves and think that the “world” ends right at the border -
@TELE-HO Is like vision we should be collaborative, not competitive.

A good surprise next week?
-
I’d like to know that too?
Any hints about update? -
@Rob33 Only few at this forum know that. Five or six guys!
-
@Luís-Pinto is it a given that an update is on the way then?
-
@megacoolsurfdude I’m not that five or six guy. i bet soon!
-
@Luís-Pinto yeah, something is broken in Glonass. I remember since summer when part of the net wasn’t available. Who knows…
-
I’d like to see graph of battery drain within the watch, something like on x axis time, on y axis, battery percentage. So I can have visual on how the battery is being drained over the day.
-
@Bulkan so in Europe better use Galileo or Glonass?
-
@tomahawk5000 For me It works better in this order GPS > GPS+glonnas >GPS+Galileo.
I’m in Canary Island, but from what I’ve read here in the rest and norther Europe is the same.
