How to use QZSS on S9B
-
@Takeshi-Kakeda try to use GPS Test APP to see systems on your country and sats if your smartphone have a chipset to support all constellations: https://github.com/barbeau/gpstest
You just have two regional systems QZSS (Japan) integrated on American system and IRNSS (Índia) not integrated. Índia plan to do a global system in future. GB after brexit also have plans to do their own system.
You should be able to see in app for example this:
-
Hi what @Luís-Pinto said.
Qzss is enabled always on all S series watches
You don’t need Todo anything about it and it doesn’t consume any extra battery
-
Because QZSS is designed to improve GPS, while the other systems (in theory) could be complete replacement.
-
@isazi QZSS is a regional system in Japan and others are global, and yes can be work without Navstar.
I’ve be testing galileo (just) with smarphone with a external antenna and a specific app from that brand that allows to choose a constellation and results are amazing (both static and moving, without dual frequency - my phone don’t have that possibility), better than nav+gal! But in my zone, in Asia can be worst. Next will test bds.
-
@Luís-Pinto how ? (Do you test) eager to learn

List of products that support the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS)
https://qzss.go.jp/en/usage/products/list.html#outdoor-digital-cameras-clocks
Suunto has only one device listed , Suunto7
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos it’s a APP included when you buy a external antenna. This antenna, is connected via ble. You can select constelation that you want, or select dual/triple constellations. Later can inform details: https://geospatial.trimble.com/products-and-solutions/trimble-r1
https://www.seilergeo.com/2015/07/29/overview-of-trimble-gnss-status-app-on-an-android-device-connected-to-a-trimble-r1-gnss-receiver/
Even u-blox antennas there is software to choose systems and single or dualfrequency: -
@zhang965 S5 and S9 have QZSS.
-
@Luís-Pinto
Yes, I know S9 has the QZSS,But i just don’t think it can work only with the Gps
Option, and GZSS will be a complete system as well. -

that is a bit outdated list. Vantage has also QZSS and others.

Yes vantage is in the list so does suunto7
-
@zhang965 ok
-
Again to make it clear for the OP the QZSS is always on
For the specs of the watch see details on Suunto .com https://www.suunto.com/en-gb/Products/sports-watches/suunto-9-baro/suunto-9-baro-black/
-
@Luís-Pinto alright, but with 4 satellites it is not global.
I just read they’re planning to extend it to make it standalone, but it’s future work. -
@isazi i Said before qzss is regional.
-
Hi, thanks for all comments.

Wao! it’s so wonderful for me.
I wondered if S9B specs told possibility of QZSS, but I couldn’t use it
So I can tell my friends that suunto S series watches support QZSS like garmin watches . -
@Takeshi-Kakeda yes sir
-
@Luís-Pinto said in How to use QZSS on S9B:
@Takeshi-Kakeda QZSS is integrated on Navstar system. You don’t have to do anything to use regional Japan system. It means that if you use Navstar alone (GPS) is nav+QZSS, if you use nav+gal you real use in Japan Nav+QZSS+Gal.
Thank you for your detailed comment.
I have grasped what QZSS is.
Ok, I’ll try gpstest to know how the system does .
