@azeanic
how does your s9 and garmin/coros track look compared in strava?
…despite that I noticed that strava shows a compressed trackline compared to SA and MC… -
@zhang965
you’ve got fusedtrack disabled? and better precision? -
@azeanic said in Pros/Cons of Suunto 9 BARO * ONLY * be fair and polite!:
Coros Vertix, had the best battery life among us 3 at the 60km mark. I had to disable OHR and charge a bit half-way through the race and finished with about 18% after 29.5 hours. Whilst I vaguely remember the Coros has more than enough battery to get to the finish line without a recharge.
Coros Vertix is advertised to have 60 hours in the best GPS mode, but the accuracy isn’t as good as Suunto 9 from some discussions that I’ve seen so far.
Suuto 9 could have survived the entire race on a single charge in Performance mode if OHR was turned off from the beginning, but that would be a close call.

@silentvoyager
does chest strap use less battery than ohr? -
@TELE-HO of course, chest belt requests less battery
-
@zhang965 what makes you think so? Bluetooth/ANT+ consumes also energy and WHR is optimized to use also as less as possible? Just because chast Belt has it’s own battery for sensor and transmission?

I didn’t think so, it just acts so,
try it yourself, in the same sport mode, s9 will show different estimated battery life. -
@zhang965 ---- no chance — still on Ambit2 — waiting for improvements in the App and Firmware before wasting money again …

It’s true.
WHR consumes more energy because the LED’s use way more than BTLE.
BTLE has an average current of ~0.05mA (depending largely on the chipset)
The high rate LED switching easily uses 10x as much power… -

@zhang965
what is, by your experience, the battery life in best GPS mode?and another technical question: is it possible to get oxygen values with these LED’s or would it require a different sensor?

It’s a wise strategy, I think suunto number line will never get the same (feeling ) as ambit line.
Personally I recommend you to get a second hand SSU if you don’t want wasting money, or garmin/polar stuff.
The difference between ambit and suunto number line is huge, I think as long as you stay with ambit, you will get harder to understand a new generation watch

@zhang965 I had an “SSU Titanium Customized” until last week and dropped it because of issues … I’m now waiting where to go and stay with the A2 Peak Sapphire
And I had Also an S9 BARo & S9BARO Titanium which I also get rid of as long as I could get my money back. I’m not giving up, but I will not wait forever …

I never did a long time activity, my longest move was a 12km 48min run, so for me the battery is enough.
It needs a different sensor for blood oxygen

It is easy enough to try because Suunto 9 shows estimated battery life on activity start screen.
If my memory is correct, with full charge in Performance mode S9B promises the following:
- With OHR - 25 hours
- With BT HR sensor - 30-31 hours
- With HR turned off - 33-34 hours

i had almost complexe feeling about SSU, it was so awful in 360 degrees.
I was telling myself , when buying S9, there will be nothing awful as ssu, there will be nothing awful as ssu.
Until I opened s9’s package

+1
I just got a new one for 225 EUR (including heart belt).
But I think that my Ambit 3 is the best choice further on.

I’m not bounded to a brand, I’m using V800 and A2PS together, because I need only good pace/power and time/distance during my workouts. The rest is “candy”. And for GPS track quality and battery lifetime these two are still unbeaten (IMHO) for my needs …

With BT HR sensor - 30-31 hours
that would be perfect for my extended skitouring weekends
-
@zhang965
why is ssu and s9 aweful?
do you like the a3ps design better?
