Treadmill Tracking on Spartan Trainer Wrist HR
-
@jiajge90 Get Zwift Pod. It’s almost nearly as good. There are other foot pods available too. Honestly, I wouldn’t go for Stryd unless you need running power. Getting it as footpod only is an overkill.
-
@NickK Yeah, I agree. My comment was more about how Suunto watches are inaccurate regarding treadmill distance and pace than about advice to buy a Stryd
-
@Zdeněk-Hruška as I use both footpods, and had some irritating issues with the measurements of the Zwift Pod / Milestone Pod on the treadmill - according to the Zwift/Milestone support it is strongly recommended to use the Pod on the treadmill OR outdoor. The Pod otherwise won’t give you the right distances at all, as it needs to be calibrated for each use, obviously every time. (So it is as mentioned in this thread before )
And just as has been said, Stryd is a different matter, but the price is too high IMHO just to use it as a “simple” “distance-footpod”. -
@Zdeněk-Hruška I have the same issue. When running outside I run mostly hilly terrain so my treadmill distances are significantly off, usually at least 25% longer than actual. Suunto should provide manual calibration like some Garmin watches do.

@NickK so the Spartan Sport Wrist HR would be able to track distance on a treadmill without GPS? Do I manually somehow need to disable the GPS?
-
@Andreas-Olsson could you please show a screenshot of your Treadmill mode? it’s the original sport mode for Treadmill?
-
-
@Andreas-Olsson
well, could you please show me the details of this sport mode…
it shows custom, have you modified it? -
I found my last Vo2 max test run which I used a running mode without GPS, and it reported the distance as well
-
Do you refer to those screens?
-
@Andreas-Olsson
There is no option to deactivate GPS??? -
@Andreas-Olsson this is the option in Movescount, I’m looking the similar option in SA
-
In this case, could you reset the treadmill mode to default ?

There should be no need to disable GPS as it shouldn’t be active for treadmill.
For sure you need to calibrate the watch doing some outdoor run so distance will be evaluated using internal accelerometer -
@sartoric the problem resolved, SA customization will activate the GPS for treadmill, when he uses the original mode treadmill, the gps will not be activated .
-
Hi,
I see something similar in that on the Treadmil, the pace will never exceed 8km/h. Anything faster is hard clipped. This makes the distance for the run incorrect.
Any way to fix this?
-
Are you using OHR?
-
@zhang965 Using the WHR sensor on the watch. Nothing else.
-
@pvanness have you tried with HR belt ? it seems OHR locks pace for some reasons.
-
@zhang965 I don’t have a HR belt. But will try next time with the OHR turned off. By the way - this doesn’t happen during outdoor runs, only the treadmill.
