I’m considering getting my (almost) 13 year old son a Run to track his activities, and would like to be in the same ecosystem. So, I’m considering the Race S for myself.

Is the Race S the way to go for a 40 year old multisport athlete? On an ideal week I swim 3x (masters league), run 1-2x, lift 1-2x, and play pickup soccer with friends on the weekends. Or is the Race 2 a better option given potential future software updates?

      Side note:

I bought a Race 2 when it was released, but returned it due to the size. Otherwise it was a great watch, and I was really impressed with the UX along with the simplicity of the way Suunto measures fitness using TSS, etc. Plus, I appreciate how Suunto’s recovery scores are not tied to daytime stress, allowing me to wear a different watch when not working out, if I want to.

@tm3610 race s would be sufficient. I don’t see the value of a race s2 currently.

@brechtvb HR sensor might be better on the Race S2 - but the watch is not out, yet…

And compared to the Race 2 the Race S is way cheaper…

@2b2bff well if I see this level of sport I assume a hr band being used.

@brechtvb yes I use a Polar H9 for everything except swimming. For that, I just tighten my strap and usually find good results (currently using a Forerunner 170).

@2b2bff I know there is no way of knowing when and if this new model would get released. But I don’t mind waiting a few months if it means I could get in on the latest hardware and longest support for software.
