Suunto Software update Q2 (2.56.18) - July 14th, 2026 - Vertical 2 and Race 2

I used to do hanggliding and for one site in the Netherlands where you can do dune soaring, you are dependent on the wind (both force and direction) to fly and on the tide to land (with high tide there is no beach to land on).
So, you plan in advanced for the wind and the tide. It’s a one and a half hour drive. When you arrive at the spot, the wind might be different than the forecast, but the tide never is.
Also the example I gave before where one passage on a trail is only accessible on low tide, you plan in advance. You don’t look at your watch 5 minutes before the passage.
For me, it just sounds like people are happy with extra data to look at.

@elbee one of my use cases is kite surfing.
I sometimes stay at a beach for multiple days. Not always there is enough wind or water.
So when the wind picks up, I can now quickly check, how long the water will last and if it makes sense to pump the kite. -
Far enough. You are the first that present me a use case.
(Still not convinced that a watch is the best way to check, but reality made that a useless discussion)

@elbee It’s a bit more useful for me than that - I might have made a ‘float plan’ based on expected conditions and anticipated route. I might have to change that on the water for many reasons and the info is useful. If I want to change plans and instead of staying out to sea navigate the north channel of Eilean Shona, perhaps to avoid worse than forecast weather it’s useful to know if the ford part way along is underwater or not.
As for a path accessible at low water - what’s accessible at LW Springs might not be at Neaps and it also useful to know that a particular passage (or path) is navigable at a certain height of water between low and high… -
Hello, I see “bug fixes” in the update; have the issues with the watch restarting during activity and the disconnection of external heart rate sensors been resolved ? Thanks

Sorry to say, but if it is that useful you use a dedicated service for it, and not on a small screen like a watch. And it’s not like you can select a target place you want the tide information on on the watch. You use the worst possible tool for important information.
@egika Come to think of it. The kitesurfing example is also shaky. Most wind related sports use a specific service, like windfinder, that shows wind, tide and for some locations wave forecast in 1 view.
It really makes no sense to use a small screen for important info.

No need to continue arguing if certain thing can be done in other ways. They surely can!
In my example I am sitting at the beach. Sand and water prevent me from using other electronic equipment (that also might get stolen while being out on the water). But again: of course I can survive without tides on the watch. It is just convenient to have them in some cases. I showed you one.

@safari
Is it happening in a custom mode? If yes, unfortunately, I had the same and needed to recreate that mode. -
Problem solved.

Not worth falling out over and staying constructive - I do use other tidal planning tools - but for the watch tide information to be useful it needs to be clear where it actually refers to - a named tidal port or a particular location. Without knowing that the data isn’t all that useful.
It’s not always easy to operate a smartphone - fine for planning in advance but plans change and adapt to conditions and having that info easily to hand would be helpful.
