Yes, after your explanation, I tried it now in the unedited sports mode that says “basic”. It appears like this. Is this a feature or a bug? Thanks for the information.

It should also be a feature in the customized modes accordng to Joaquin’s video🤷

      🔺Vertical 2 90th anniversary edition🔺

@thailon the only information I can share is that Vertical, Race, and Race S are not included in this Q2 update as Suunto is still assessing the scope and timing of next update. Further communication from Suunto will come when a decision is taken.

As far as I’m concerned, I think Race S is already complete as it is and, to be honest, I really couldn’t think of anything else I could ask for. Bug fixes are, ofc, always welcome 😊

I’d like to have the HR broadcast “memory” that this update provides on my Race S, as well as improvements to maps; also, from last year, vertical oscillation and ground contact time were added to Race 2 and Vertical 2 and I’d appreciate those on Race S as well.

Thanks for update. Maps looks amazing, tide app is welcomed too but i will probably get possibility to test it somewhere next year, please share some screenshots how it looks like. Thanks.

Since i live 800km from sea, should be displaying some info like data not available for your location instead of “updating”, is this bug?

Btw i already synced multiple times. No change.

          Looks like this:

Plus you can add tides as complications to the watch face

            @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos and for Vertical 1 ?
I know it can’t be the same update due to hardware limitations, but at least:

            • Tides widget
            • HR Recovery
And please, restore solar harvesting that was reduced to minimum harvest when Vertical 2 was introduced.

I dont know why so many people complain there’s nothing new in this update. I find out street label as a huge step, one of hugest for last months (for Suunto at least, competition already have long time).

I just recommend to use dark mode. If someone use bright, labels are barely visible, even with nose on watch 😊

I have HR recovery on my race s and it isn’t that good. It only records hr recovery at the end of an activity. If you do interval training you want hr recovery after each interval, but that isn’t recorded. At the end might be after cooling down and then it isn’t saying anything. If HR recovery would recognize the rest between intervals it would be useful.

Tides I don’t understand. It’s static data and you can look it up years in advanced. If you go on a trail and one passage is only accessible on low tide, you plan in advance and don’t look at your watch just before the passage. But I guess that’s me.

I know people prefer a watch with 1001 features over a watch with 1000 features. 😉

The “if you don’t need it, don’t use it” is too simple. Suunto developers spend time on it that they can’t spend on other things. If they didn’t fix bugs that bother me because they added a feature I don’t use… (or in my case, delayed the firmware update (with bugfixes) for my race s)

@elbee Although tide data is forecastable it’s not exactly static - it changes day to day both in timing and in height.
In a spirit of constructive feedback and being pleased to have this function I’d like to understand how this works. Is the system clever enough to give data for my exact location? Or is it based on a nearby port. I appreciate this update but it would be useful to know which reference port is being used. My watch just gives it as ‘Scotland’! A lot of planning is based on tidal streams and water depths at times plus or minus HW at a reference port - where I am that’s usually Ullapool or Oban. I can do this in advance (and do) but having it on the watch is useful for changes on the go or reminders.
My nearest port with data is Mallaig, a few miles up the coast. The watch data is close but doesn’t quite match so is it for my exact location?.

I used to do hanggliding and for one site in the Netherlands where you can do dune soaring, you are dependent on the wind (both force and direction) to fly and on the tide to land (with high tide there is no beach to land on).

So, you plan in advanced for the wind and the tide. It’s a one and a half hour drive. When you arrive at the spot, the wind might be different than the forecast, but the tide never is.

Also the example I gave before where one passage on a trail is only accessible on low tide, you plan in advance. You don’t look at your watch 5 minutes before the passage.

For me, it just sounds like people are happy with extra data to look at.

@elbee one of my use cases is kite surfing.
I sometimes stay at a beach for multiple days. Not always there is enough wind or water.
So when the wind picks up, I can now quickly check, how long the water will last and if it makes sense to pump the kite.

Far enough. You are the first that present me a use case.

(Still not convinced that a watch is the best way to check, but reality made that a useless discussion)

@elbee It’s a bit more useful for me than that - I might have made a ‘float plan’ based on expected conditions and anticipated route. I might have to change that on the water for many reasons and the info is useful. If I want to change plans and instead of staying out to sea navigate the north channel of Eilean Shona, perhaps to avoid worse than forecast weather it’s useful to know if the ford part way along is underwater or not.
As for a path accessible at low water - what’s accessible at LW Springs might not be at Neaps and it also useful to know that a particular passage (or path) is navigable at a certain height of water between low and high…

Hello, I see “bug fixes” in the update; have the issues with the watch restarting during activity and the disconnection of external heart rate sensors been resolved ? Thanks

Sorry to say, but if it is that useful you use a dedicated service for it, and not on a small screen like a watch. And it’s not like you can select a target place you want the tide information on on the watch. You use the worst possible tool for important information.

@egika Come to think of it. The kitesurfing example is also shaky. Most wind related sports use a specific service, like windfinder, that shows wind, tide and for some locations wave forecast in 1 view.

It really makes no sense to use a small screen for important info.

No need to continue arguing if certain thing can be done in other ways. They surely can!
In my example I am sitting at the beach. Sand and water prevent me from using other electronic equipment (that also might get stolen while being out on the water).

But again: of course I can survive without tides on the watch. It is just convenient to have them in some cases. I showed you one.

Is it happening in a custom mode? If yes, unfortunately, I had the same and needed to recreate that mode.
