Suunto Software update Q2 (2.56.18) - July 14th, 2026 - Vertical 2 and Race 2
-
I know a lot of people have asked for the labels on the map. I’m interested to see how this works - do we need to download new maps, or is all this info already included in the existing maps?
The necessary data already is in the maps on your watch.

I hope for an update for S Run in the short time, but judging this there are no real meat on the table for me.
The update is not bad, but underperforming.
Still waiting for:
- proper bluetooth connections
– higher limit on max bluetooth devices
– fix multiple sensors on same standardised UUID - suunto HR monitor drop out fix
- proper bluetooth connections
-
why not open the code to the community? Let people who actually care about quality and features help Suunto grow, since Suunto itself apparently cannot.
And you would rely on random people who would probably code this in their spare time more than on two (I assume) full time devs at Suunto? I wouldn’t. Especially not during races, etc. The scenario would be what? One dev == one field tester?
Yes, I do rely on random people at least for my Linux system. Actually, it works and get updates almost daily.

@brechtvb Suunto Run is on a different schedule

We know that in this forum every update is both too late and underperforming.
While loads of bugs have been fixed with this one - can you conform that the mentioned HR connection drop outs are
a) an issue of the firmware
b) not fixed with this updateIf 2x yes: can you provide more details?
Thx!
- proper bluetooth connections

You sound like you don’t have much experience supporting open source projects and have a rather naive idea that there are random unpaid people willing to maintain things for you.
Anyway, this topic is about the software update and its discussion. Your complaints are completely off topic, so please refrain from continuing this here and focus on the update instead. You’re free to create a separate topic for this discussion if you’d like.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Trovo che questo aggiornamento sia ben fatto per il mio Race2. Le mappe offline ora sono molto belle e dettagliate. Ottimo il widget delle maree. Grazie Suunto.

@thailon it’s not random Linux. It’s the complete opposite of random actually. But it’s open source.
-
@Egika with the default running modes Ascent appears

You are not right.

@peegee
Yes, after your explanation, I tried it now in the unedited sports mode that says “basic”. It appears like this. Is this a feature or a bug? Thanks for the information. -

@safari not sure that’s why I wrote that I am asking.

Great update! But seriously, Suunto… not even one new watch face for us?
…in the making… (and released separately from firmware updates)
-
@Egika
I had a watch face that was “accidentally published,” but it got deleted with a firmware update. :))) -
Hi! Any idea if and when Suunto Vertical 2 will have full GPS TimeSync including adjusting Timezones ?

If I were Suunto product manager, this would be a feature very low on my priority list.
There is automatic time sync from the app plus it can be adjusted manually.
You then count the number of instances were both would not be suitable and end up with a too low benefit for the whole user base compared to the cost (of development and of other features of watches being delayed)
