I had similar problem with with my 9PP running software version 2.48.16 and now after the upgrade to version 2.50.28 still: out of the blue the heart rate monitor LED lights stop working. Only after switching the watch off and on again, it reactivates. I want to track my sleep and HRV and the failure happens most often at night messing up the statistics.

Anyone knows a sustainable solution? Much appreciated.

I also have the same issue. 9pp running 2.50.28 and many times over the last year or more wrist heart rate stops. Green leds not flashing. Turn off turn on to fix but you only realise it’s stopped when you synch in the morning.

            Night sleep, recovery all inaccurate.

I have no good reason to buy Suunto again ☹️

Same problem as other recent users. Running 2.50.28 and HR monitor stops working. Can’t turn HR function off and back on, have to do a soft reset. The issue seems to have started (for me anyway) about a month ago, but has been increasing in frequency each week. I thought this was resolved way back in 2.39.20? It’s the same behavior at least.

By means of the control panel, you can try by switching on and then off the low power mode. I’ve tried this sometimes in the past and it worked.

@Matúš I tried it out as well, but unfortunately it doesn’t work for me…Soft reset is mandatory to have back the HR monitoring.

I’ve noticed that the HR lockout has been occurring more frequently recently.

Could it be the strap fastening? When it’s hot, I wear it looser, and that’s why I’m having doubts.

In light of this known issue, do you think the manufacturer will release a fix? It would be a real shame if it were abandoned…

I’ve just tried and it seems that the optical sensor switches off at about 15-20mm from the skin, but I doubt that you are wearing the watch so loose, plus I think that the HR sampling is pretty unreliable in this condition.

@Matúš I just thought that perhaps the intermittent contact with the skin could cause the sensor to go haywire, causing the monitoring to block… but I’m not sure that’s a valid hypothesis…

@Matúš My hypothesis is that there are some extra features that do not really work well together.

Test 1: new battery installed because watch could not last for more than two days which is somewhat below specs. Before battery switch the sleep tracking was unstable, after the change it never came back.
Test 2: turned of heart-rate measurement completely since it is no use … Surprise it is still trying to ignite the measurement LEDs ???

Restarted it several times, being more than a week since I received it back.
Multiple trainings done, they worked out OK and battery time seems to have improved since I can use the watch more than two days on a charge now.

However it is entirely unlike the other Spartan Sport WHR I own which can be worn a week and still has 80% of battery power. Both have new battery but remarkably different performance, sleep recording broke something in the 9PP as far as I can deduce.
