      Hello,
I’m a SUUNTO addict since now more than 10 years so one may object I’m not fair as I never tried a GARMIN 🙂

Effectivelly since now more than 10 years a I wear a Suunto watch, At beginning a 9 BARO, then ~ 3 years ago I shifted to a RACE and then recently I replaced it by a VERTICAL 2

OK I’m not fair !!! BUT ven so … I would say …

THANKS A LOT and CONGRATULATION SUUNTO Folks !!!

      You rock !!!

Your WATCH VERTICAL 2 or RACE 2 are really AWESOME and at really few millimeter from the pure and total perfection … really just few millimeter … and really from perfection

Effectivelly, you succeed to combine in your graphical user interface and the way the buttons are managed an ease to use and a very flexible design. it is simple and powerful at the same time.
Almost yu have everything, I can setup POI when I’m somewhere, this is fundamental and POLAR GritX2 does not have this !!! incredible

You have a design where I cannot change all like in GARMIN but in reverse all is already very well designed straight from the beginning so I do not have many things I want to change, what you deliver is already excellent

      So

      THANKS A LOT !!!

You will telle me … few millimeters from perfection for you ?
So what are theses few millimeters missing ?

Really small indeed and I’m sure one day you will considere them you will realize that it is few millimeters for you versus what you already achieved 🙂

      Let’s look at them

        1. A sport mode with a single figure but really giant … I will do a post for that
        1. well well well ALTITUDE graph should be green like the grass of the land it measures , whereas PRESSION graph should be blue like the atmosphere is … honestly it’s peanuts but showing atmosphere pressure in gray like pollution I hope you will admit it is not beautiful. moreover your green and your blue are really beautiful, so why not to see them both here.
        1. Having a night mode with 3 information and displayed in RED (muche better for the eyes to adapt fast and not disturbing others). what are these 3 informations : Current time, next alarml, % battery … why this ? because the 3 questions you ask yourself when you wake up are - what time is it ? , Is my alarm correctly set to wake me up early tomorrow to start my climbing journey ? Do I have enough battery to be sure that my alarm will ring ?
        1. when you display the percentage of battery in a sport field, do not display the .0 but instead the %. 2 reasons for that : 43.0 or 43 means the same, so the .0 does not bring any added value, instead showing the % immediatelly remembers you that you are looking to a percentage so the percentage of … battery. it is a nanometer improvement but still one
        1. Add the measures = DELTA ALTITUDE BETWEEN where you are AND the next POI / end of itinary. this is missing, you have this measure : “ascencion jusqu au point de passage” (in french) but it remains always not computer when you set a POI. When we are in mountain and we set a POI, there are 4 informations which we want to know : How much time to arrive to it ?, When we will arrive to it ? At which distance it is ?, The first are already offered by you but also and especially when we are in moutain, which vertical distance we still have to climb ?
This is super important when you have a group with you and you can then tell this to them of they are tired. For sur when we know the itinary we even do not need a watch to say this, but showing it to the team make them relax
        1. can we have one more screen in the sport mode ? why ? My settings are the following : SCREEN 1 = What is already achieved (so duration, time, distance, delta altitude versus the start) SCREEN 2 = what is still to accomplish either only the ETE; ETA and duration to POI or both ETE, ETA and duration to POI or End of itinary – I have 2 sport modes here) . but what is missing is a SCREEN 3 = some biological or watch information, my heart frequency, the temperature, the percentage of battery … so the 3 screens are very logical like this
        1. It seems stupid but … when I give a name to a sport mode, why are you continuing to display your name and then below mine … at the moment I decide to rename your sport mode, I would have prefered that you display only mine but with bigger fonts so it will be easier for me who is impaired to see it and recognize it

So … may be you should have a special option in your setting = FONTS : normal, medium, big. Normal being all yoru current setting and big is really bigger for peple who are visually impaired … you will see when you will arrive to my age 57 you will understand

PS : I was a little bit concerned when I shfted from my RACE to a VERTICAL 2, I decided to go here because I’m mainly a mountainer and doing some alpine winter and summer races, so I was interrested by the bigger batter, the bigger buttons to use with gloves and also the red light for when you are in refuge to not wake up everybody 🙂
I do nto regret my choice, despite there is not the roller, the way you managed the 3 buttons is perfect.

PS : I’m an IT engineer orking since now 1993 and expert in GUI modern developments , so I hope my thanks and congratulations has some value for you

#5 is already possible with the Climb Guidance screen if there a route and a waypoint on the route. It will display the following information on the climb guidance screen - the remaining ascent to the waypoint, the remaining descent, and the remaining distance.

        Example: 1000004892.jpg

Also, the field at the bottom is customizable and can rotate up to 4 different fields. So this Climb Guidance screen has quickly become one of my most used data screens.

#6 - 3 data screens are already possible in custom sport modes.

Suunto: Ambit, Ambit 3 Peak, 9 Baro, Race S, Race Ti, Vertical 2 Ti
Garmin: Forerunner 210, Forerunner 610, Fenix 6X, Fenix 7X Ti

Oh Oh !!! super happy to know that I could have 3 screens in OTHER SPORT mode , I will test this ASAP.

For vertical distance to POI, the issue is preciselly when you do not have an itineray, but juste a POI, in this case there is no measure available

@sky-runner Hello again I juste tested the Ohter sport mode, effectivelly you can have 3 screens …
            BUT BUT BUT …
you do not have all the measures available … for example here is no more available in this mode the delta altitude since your departure point.
so you cannot set the SCREEN 1 to represent all what you have already accomplished eiter in “~ horizontal” distance or vertical one … this is important when you are guiding a group to tell them, look at the watch we already climbed 850 meters so there are still juste 400 to climb to our current target (which will be given by the second screen).

Knowing very well when I guide a group I do not even need a watch as I know my itinery by heart, but the advantage of a watch is that it is undisputable, and you can show it to the group especially the people who start to be tired … and they will trust more the watch than you 🙂

@Mister-PYC Not the Other sport mode. In the Suunto app you can create a completely custom sport mode with the exact configuration of data screens and data fields that you want.

For example I have a custom sport mode derived from Trail Run.

Suunto: Ambit, Ambit 3 Peak, 9 Baro, Race S, Race Ti, Vertical 2 Ti
Garmin: Forerunner 210, Forerunner 610, Fenix 6X, Fenix 7X Ti

I feel very stupid, but: How do you change the data in that field? I haven’t had time to play around much, and haven’t found the way to do that…
