I’ve been through many activities where i struggled with the Suunto smart chest strap that was either too low or too high. I’ve changed batteries and tried restarting multiple times.
I recently bought a Polar H9 and found that it pairs to my Peak Pro. On my last activity the Polar chest strap performed flawlessly!
So I’m using the Polar H9 now! It’s just so much better. I have no use for the Smart Function of the Suunto Strap.

@Kevin Suunto’s heart rate strap is “smart” in the sense that it has build in memory, meaning that if the watch looses connection for example when swimming, data still gets recorded. Then when ending the activity, the data gets sent over to the watch.

I’ve never found a chest strap that’s comfortable enough for me during long runs. I’ve been using the Polar Verity Sense for quite a while now, I wear the band on my upper forearm. It’s comfortable, accurate, solid battery life (I charge it twice a month) and it works great with my Vertical

@MiniForklift I use the same and find it consistent and reliable. As far as I can tell it’s as accurate for HR as either belt was. I’ve previously used both the Suunto smart belt and Polar H10. Both did occasionally drop signal or give peculiar readings after a few months of use. I found the problem seemed to be the contacts on the inner surface of the belt developing tiny cracks. These weren’t visible unless I bent the belt back on itself when they became obvious. Replacing belts every few months is expensive.
My only disappointment with the verity sense is the lack of ability to use zonesense with - I had hoped it would work well enough in practice to at least give an indication but no luck. The difference between optical and electrical readings I think.

@MarkG I agree, a bit of a shame about Zonesense as I was also hoping to be able to use this. I do have the ‘HR Zones Duration” S+ app running, I find it quite a useful extra page to have especially for the long or threshold sessions
