Suunto Software update Q1 (2.53.42)

The app does work with the RTL515 @danyel but no others.

That said, I’m kind of underwhelmed with the performance of the app, requiring an additional screen instead of an overlay, as well as near-constant vibrating of the R2 on my commute to work this morning. Guess I’ll continue using a traditional computer for the bikes where I use radar.
I think there’s an email address for feedback related to the app, so I’ll share further feedback with the developer there.

@Squirrel this is interesting. I have just checked on my watch (which is rebooted frequently due to testing).
I still have the custom pace zones I have set like half a year ago. zone 5 is set to below 4min/km. And it seems to not have changed…
-
@Egika Thank you for checking. I have Race S. Not sure what model @Speed-Man has and whether this is model specific.
-
-
@Squirrel Same for my Race 2 : rebooting the watch causes rebooting pace zones.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I can type up a proper bug report and send debug logs if needed, but my Race S just crashed during my long run this morning.
I was about 20 km in using two Suunto Guides: a structured workout and LiveTracking. I realized that I forgot to navigate my route as I was running in a new area. I long-pressed the bottom button to open up the run options -> Navigation -> Routes -> (selected route) -> Navigate and the watch crashed.
I believe this was due to the fact that I was already using 2 SuuntoPlus Guides and cannot start a 3rd. Sucks though, as I had to stop, wait for the watch to boot back up, restart the run, select the workout, navigate the route, and ignore LiveTracking.
Of course I can stitch the two activities together in a single run, but part of the reason I purchased the Race S was because my 9 Baro would crash on me when doing structured workouts while also navigating a route. I was hoping this wouldn’t be an issue with the newer models.
Let me know if this is something you want to dig into.

@thailon we are doing our best to support the v1!

What is the HR broadcast tested to work with? I got it connected to a Wahoo Elemnt Bolt v2 but no HR readings despite the successful pairing (Wahoo identifies the V2 as an ANT+ HR sensor).
-
@gkaempfer Worked great with the Garmin Edge 1050 I have. Not only that but pausing activity, moving away from the Edge all were without any issues. I am not sure that V2 has Ant+
-
@EzioAuditore Wahoo devices tested so far all support ANT+ and all fail to show HR (despite pairing correctly). These include: Ace, Roam v3 and Bolt v2.
-
Thanks for the update and kudos to Suunto team!
I experience a bug with resources after the update: they basically stay way too high through days with small rises over night. This does not correlate neither with HRV, sleep duration and HR data, nor with how I actually feel.
Resources metrics worked never perfect for me, but it became a bit more useful from January till now.Does anybody else experience similar bug?
-
@gkaempfer V2 doesn’t have ANT+. Just tried that on elmnt roam 2 and it connects as ANT+ and show nothing. Strange, it should be BT.
-
@HonzaS I was also surprised to see it. My guess is that it’s some bug on the Suunto side. I’ve had a Coros watch connect to the Wahoo for years without issue.
-
@gkaempfer you can add Ace to that list. Same issue the wahoo recognised the broadcast but no HR.
It isn’t something I’d use as I normally would use a Polar strap which broadcasts to both.
-
@gone-troppo seems to be user specific issue? My Vertical has no issues and lasts weeks. Not
Saying it should not be fixed for those that are experiencing it but not sure it’s widespread? -

Same here, Vertical 2

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Hi, thanks for your update.
Does the doing the best mean we will receive any Q1? Bug fixies or even features? I’m asking just because its Q1 time and no info, feedback has been given by Suuno in SuuntoApp. Thanks! -
@Stefano-M64 Took me a while to figure out why it wasn’t working for me, a short explanation in the update notes would have been handy (or seeing your post before I worked it out)
-
Thank you for the update. This is the first trully great update for swimmers.
Drill mode + lap button correction

I have some comments on what could be improved in future updates regarding swimming:
- Do you plan to make the official structured workouts for swimming?
I tested them with a new update. I really like that now we can see in the table what exercise was done at each interval. But because it is not official for swimming still, the table is messy.
For example here:

What I actually swam:
400m Medley swimming legs (used a drill mode)
50m butterfly
50m backstroke
50m breaststroke
50m freestyle- I bought a Suunto HR Belt and tested it in water. There is same problem as with Polar Verity Sense, while using in a swimming pool.
Because of physics the Bluetooth signal can’t reach from watch to the HR sensor. Then when both are underwater, the connection is restored. Every time it happens, the watch give a signal (sound or/and vibration). It happens so often, that becomes annoying. Could you, please, add to the sounds settings a separate option for the HR sensor connection notification? So we don’t need to turn off all the sound and vibration during the training.
- It could be nice if we could see a rest time between intervals, like in a “Swim timer” SuuntoPlus app. Also in the Suunto App statistics.
But thanks again for the update. It is really great)

Sometimes when I use three SuuntoPlus apps at the same time, my watch shuts down.
