I’ve been a loyal Suunto user for 20 years and currently use a Suunto Vertical. I’ve always valued Suunto also for the app as a long‑term archive of my outdoor life.
Unfortunately, since the recent Suunto App update, this core use case has been severely impacted.
For years, I used the description field of each activity to add short but meaningful notes: tour names, conditions, key locations, or personal remarks.
The keyword search allowed me to quickly and precisely find activities again — even years later — by simply searching for these terms.
This was NOT a “nice to have” feature.
It was essential to how I organized, reused, and valued my activity data.

      Since the update:

      • The keyword/text search for activity descriptions is gone
      • All historic descriptions still exist, but are no longer searchable
      • Years of carefully maintained notes and tours are now effectively impossible to retrieve

This turns the app from a structured personal archive into a chronological list that is extremely hard to navigate — especially for long‑term, highly active users.
Suunto support has confirmed that this search functionality has been removed and suggested browsing by date, sport type, or location. Unfortunately, this is not a realistic workaround when you are trying to find a specific tour based on a written note from years ago.
      To be very clear:
The drama here is not about a missing feature, but about the fact that years of meaningful user-generated data have lost their usability overnight.

I genuinely struggle to understand how such a core function could be removed without offering:

      • an alternative solution
      • a migration path
      • or even a clear explanation of how long‑term users are supposed to work with their data now

So my question to the community is:
👉 Has anyone found a workaround or solution to search old activity descriptions again?
👉 Is there any way — within or outside the app — to make years of written notes usable again?
I say this with a heavy heart, because I’ve been with Suunto for a long time:
If this remains unresolved, I’m honestly very close to leaving my beloved 20 years Suunto ecosystem and switching to Garmin — simply because I can’t accept losing access to my own history.
Any insights, workarounds, or updates would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
