Navigation options > Data field > select the one you want
My Race S does not have this option. Not in any of the Map menus. Not in any of the e.g. Trail Running menus. Bug? Or not implemented on the Race S? On a Walking activity today HR showed up on the Map screen, it seems to be hard coded just like @alain-brunetot described.

@Inge-Nallsson are you using navigation?
-
@isazi Also when choosing a route, no Data field option shows up…
-
@Inge-Nallsson Race S has this option, you are probably looking in the wrong menu. I hope that in the next version this menu will be more easy to access.
-
@Inge-Nallsson Navigation screen on watch after a route is loaded, scroll down to the settings and data field options are there.
-
@Brad_Olwin race S user here, loaded a run with a route, navigated to the map screen, at this screen I tapped the bottom button, then scrolled all the way to the bottom, there you have a section for data fields, which is the setting menu you need. In there you can enable distance remaining.

@Brad_Olwin Choosing “Trail Running” now: “Navigation”, “Routes” (picking one), loaded (nothing new has turned up in that “Navigation” menu). Trying “Exercise options”… “Map settings”… Nope, only “Map style” and “Map orientation”. Neither in any of the other menus. Nothing new. Even when turning on “Touch” (Map only".

I would also suggest automatically enabling the Touch if you are using multiple fields
-
@Inge-Nallsson You need to start the activity

Ah! Yes… That works. This was incredibly convoluted… Thanks. Hope my bumbling around will help other users.
Edit: Everybody is talking about the Menu only accessible from the Map screen itself (the 3 lines/hamburger icon).
Edit 2: And it works even without any Route loaded. Great!
