What does the new speedometer symbol mean in the 90‘ watchface?
And were did you find an official answer?

I wouldn’t know, it’s not specified in the release notes…

@Sportsfreund I believe you are referring to the icon at the top where the baro trend is, it means you just installed the new firmware and need to wait a few hours for the watch to compute the baro trend

Hahaha ok, I’d been wondering for weeks whether it was actually the wrong icon to indicate a positive trend 😀

I agree with everyone who already said that S9PP remains a great watch that has received robust and useful updates in the past years. For me the last great addition was Climb Guidance 2.0 so I would have appreciated new improvements, but I can live with what I have. I’m on the 2.50.28 firmware and have no major issue (HR sensors disconnecting when mounted on bike? Luckily it’s the first time I hear that).

@pavel.samokha just to take into account that new maps in watch looks good and i think there is no problem with readability in my opinion compared to suunto app.

                                This update is great!
                                Some insights :

                                • I particularly like the Smart Autozoom Turns, it would just be even better if the zoom could also appear when you are not displaying the map.

                                • It would be great to be able to display the average pace on the map.

BTW, happy with this update! Thank you 🙏

I haven’t had a chance to test the new software in the mountains yet, but I don’t like the 40m distance, which will display an “off-route” message and will likely cause Climb Guidance to stop working.

In my opinion, this distance is definitely too short for more rugged terrain or, for example, in winter, when it’s not always safe to stick to the trail (avalanches).

The new off-route detection has no fixed distance anymore.
It is dynamic adjusting to your current speed and direction.

I did a quick test, and it’s even worse than I thought. After 40m, as expected, I got an “Off route” message.
But what surprised me was that, according to the watch, I had to get within 20m to be back on route. So even when you’re just 21m from the theoretically planned route, you don’t have tools like Climb Guidance, ETA, etc. That’s my first disappointment with the new software.

@maszop as the GNSS positioning usally has a higher accuracy as 5m or so, it makes sense to be on the route to use the route features.
In some places, being 20m next to the route would mean being dead…

                                      Amazing update! Thanks Suunto.

I tried the Broadcast HR this morning, and it worked great! However, it looks like I need to re-enable it every time I start an activity. For some reason the setting does not persist unlike other settings in Exercise Options.

Is this a bug, or am working as intended? Or I am just missing something.

I’m talking about places where there’s no trail, or where following the trail isn’t desirable for various reasons. When I’m in unfamiliar terrain, I create this type of basic route based on the map.
                                        1000138673.png
So according to Suunto’s new logic, am I expected to stick to this route religiously?
                                        That’s absurd.

@maszop Sure, if following a route in an “off trail” terrain, it would be useful to have an option to disable off route alerts. Although I don’t know how to still maintain climb guidance in that scenario, if at all possible.

That’s how it’s worked so far. The route goes uphill, and depending on local conditions, the actual path will be within a few dozen meters of the planned ‘theoretical’ route. The statistics shouldn’t differ by more than the watch’s accuracy.
