Turn-by-turn guidance on headphones?
-
As far as I know, turn-by-turn directions don’t work on the Suunto Wings. Does anyone know of any other bone conduction headphones that support this feature? OpenShokz, perhaps?

@runomatic This has nothing to do with headphones. Suunto watches aren’t designed for this. These are sports and outdoor watches. They’re about “Adventure starts here”, not “In 100 m, turn left”.
You’re confusing it with Google Maps navigation. -
Previously, when I planned a route with Komoot and saved it to my watch, I could access the route through the phone app instead of the watch, and also when I connected Bluetooth headphones. I would get voice prompts like “turn left” or “right” along the route, which was great while cycling. Then the voice prompts stopped working. I don’t know if it’s related to Komoot or the Suunto app. But as you mentioned, there were never any direct directional announcements through the headphones or watch.

I ran an ultratrail over the weekend where you had to navigate on your own using a GPX track.
If that doesn’t have anything to do with “Adventure Starts Here,” then what does?At one point, I missed the trail because I wasn’t constantly checking my watch. I would have appreciated a heads-up about that.

@runomatic
turn by turn on the watch means that it is vibrating of beeping as a heads up.
If you want spoken commands “turn left in 100m” in your headphones, it is not a limitation of the headphone model. -

…but rather a limitation of the watch. Got it.
Hey, SUUNTO. I’ve got a suggestion for improvement!

@runomatic It seems to me that a watch is supposed to HELP the user navigate, not mindlessly guide them like a car sat-nav.
That’s what GPX route navigation is all about.
