Stryd + Vertical Pairing

@Steven-Vanlancker with Race 2 and other models that received lasted firmware, Stryd can only be pair as footpod, which means you’ll get data from the Stryd in most conditions, it’s said that in future update, you’ll be able to select what data to receive from the Stryd pod.

Hey all stryd users.
Can you tell me the correct procedure to use stryd with Vertical after recent update ?
It’s a bit weird how it is actually on my settings.
When using run mode, stryd is paired as sensor but watch doesn’t detect my heartrate smart sensor.
When using trail, it detects HR but not stryd as a sensor. But I can use stryd s+ app and it records all stryd data in addition to suunto wrist power… -
@Ze-Stuart just bought Stryd5 and trying to configure it to get Stryd’s pace on my Vertical. Pairing with S+ app is easy, but that app doesn’t display pace.
I found your post with suggestion to pair as foot pod, but how to do that?
I tried to disconnect Stryd and uninstall S+ app. And when I connect Stryd again, it connects as power sensor. There is no menu where I could select “foot pod” pairing.Communication with Suunto support is also confusing. They say that:
- There is no way to get pace directly from pod. Watches will anyway calculate pace with their own algorithms
- I could get pod pace in custom sport mode. I tried to create one but failed to find sensor’s data there
- There may be third party S+ apps that show pod pace. But I don’t find any in S+ store
So, is there a way to get Stryd’s pace while training?

I had the same issue with 5.0. I had contacted the Stryd support and they enabled an extra update which fixed pairing to Suunto.
I would think that the update is already out for everyone but it doesn’t seem to be the case.
They may be another issue that the pairing with Suunto breaks after some time and it needs to be repaired but that seems to be more on the Suunto side. However after the Stryd update I am able to properly pair Stryd 5.0 as a foot pod which takes power, cadence, pace. -

I noticed only now after years probably that I don’t get vertical oscillation and ground contact from Stryd.
I paired Suunto Vertical with Stryd NextGen as footpod. When I end a workout both metrics in the Stryd app are always 0. I have however the footpath graph and I guess all or most of the other metrics.

I thought that was useful to SEE the metric while running, but the recording on the pod would include everything.
Plus others in this thread say you get more metrics via food pod pairing.
Any hint? I’m puzzled.

Hi, i had also some problems, but now, this is how i do it now. I have the Vertical 2 and the Stryd 5. I just connect my stryd 5 in connections, i have not installed the suunto stryd+ app. I just put a power training into the interval app. In interval on the watch, you can see te power your running, HB and time. after the run i can see all data in Stryd app are online in stryd.
for me this works

If you use the stryd from the suunto +app, then this will only work if you disconnect de stryd in connections, it seems not compatible

@Christoph-Van-Laethem thank you, I had the same setup as yours (barring older Stryd and Vertical… Lucky you!
). I see many metrics (and power obviously) but never see Vertical Oscillation nor Ground Contact. I’ve been trying last 2 runs with Suunto+ after disconnecting as sensor… it seems to work so far, I’ll try more. The thing which bothers me is you do not see if Stryd connected when about to start… you start… miss the power info, stop, go to the Stryd app and check, then restart. Not great.
