Software Update 2.48.16 (2025 November Rain release)

Also no issues. I think people with issues are inclined to keep repeating them, as if saying they have an issue again and again will make it go away.
Vertical 2 is a brilliant watch. Just back from circumnavigation if Lanzarote. First multi day use of the watch and it was spot on. Maps super smooth and easy to follow.
The only irritating thing I had was how bright the display is when walking in the dark… Should have changed to dark maps.

Reddit is a cesspool of “why should I buy a ____” or “I come from Garmin and this is what Suunto should do” posts.
As the sole moderator of r/Suunto, I’m interested in feedback on what I can do to make it a better place for Redditors.
-
@atoponce I think you cannot make people to use their brain. I used to read reddit posts on Suunto and Coros subreddits, but sometimes they ask questions which could be answered by 1 minute of googling. It’s mind blowing sometimes when someone cannot decide on basic things and instead of investing a bit of time he just plainly asks and is waiting for random people to decide on his behalf. This is why I don’t visit reddit anymore.
-
@atoponce if you compare r/Suunto and r/Garmin, I think Suunto is a bit quieter but the better of the two. I think it is quite good as it is. However, a lot of posts do fit better in the forum or are duplicates of things asked or talk about here… a simple search would help a lot of times…
Also, I don’t get why people downvote others that are telling facts, only because they dislike what they hear? That seems to be a very common theme on Reddit…

@BastMaSVSRS9PP What software version are you currently using, and are you able to perform manual SpO₂ measurements via the widget on firmware version 2.48.16?
Because Suunto representatives have stated that this is no longer possible, claiming it was removed for battery optimization and to provide more reliable dat -
@AYHAN-YILDIZ thats a misinformation. I have a Vertical 2 and checked it at the Moment running the last Firmware. O2 measurement manually works as expected.

I think this has already been discussed, I don’t know if here or somewhere else, but I can’t find it.
In any case, I’m reporting this bug for pool swimming:
The interval timer isn’t working.
(I missed this information while swimming last night)

@Stavrogin said in Software Update 2.48.16 (2025 November Rain release):
I will say though, I am getting battery drain complain fatigue. I do not discount the sadness it must bring the people it has affected, but I am not sure what countless posts are going to do to solve this problem. If you look up my profile I have also had numerous complaints and I should have been better about reporting that they are fixed when they were.
i suppose it depends on whether your motivation is to have a better watch, or feel better about your purchase.
personally i welcome the moaning. public complaints are the only bargaining chip users have (beyond returning the watch), and where better to do it than *.suunto.com!

it has a pretty bad AI bot problem. eg https://www.reddit.com/r/Suunto/comments/1e16g5d/use_of_botsllmsuunto_sales_folk_in_the_comments/
they also give bad troubleshooting advice. it’s pretty easy to spot them.
-
@dankcushions I took over moderating the sub after this point (an interesting story actually) and have been actively removing obvious AI bot comments and posts. If any still remain, report them and they’ll show up in the mod queue, from which I can handle them from there.

@atoponce I think the other 2 said it well. You can’t teach a shitzu to hunt. (actually I am not sure about that, but it seems to work well with the picture I am trying to draw.) People are not going to change their behaviors or learn to be more thoughtful because it is the right thing to do. We are at a very selfish time in history where bad behavior is reinforced every day.
We live in a society where people have little or no attention span and are dare I say selfish to the point where they do not want to do a search because they think that the unique answers they get for their questions on reddit will be different. Secondly people seem to not mind that because the majority of their requests get answered or agreed with. Thirdly the point below about downvoting, that drives me mad. I do not understand when we because a society where if we do not agree with someone we will downvote them even if what they are saying is fact or there is no right answer it is just opinion in a situation where opinions have been asked for. For all I know it could be bots or Garmin fanboys having a laugh.
I still go to the reddit and try to help if I can. I will get fatigue there sometimes, but TBH I have had that here lately as well. There are amazing little gems of wisdom in most of the topics if you read them, but lately I just have to stop reading because of all the complaining on and on about their thing that like on reddit has been asked or reported a million times.
-
@Stavrogin I agree so much with what you say. This forum for me has been brilliant. I have learnt loads and the are so many helpful and knowledgeable people.
But lately the repetitive complains and often arrogant comments make it hard work reading at times.
I came from Garmin, have a Wahoo also. And couldn’t be happier with the V2, or the V1 before it. Brilliant tools. And the only “took” I have a slight emotional attachment to.
Maybe it is because I am older and remember the days of paper maps, measuring distance with maps wheel and counting contour lines. But bloody hell what ever brand you choose we have amazing kit out there.
