Hi guys ,
I have a Suunto 9 since July and never received a storm aler , and it rained a lot of days . I don’t understand If I have something deactivated or not , always use the airplane mode on , and I was try it with airplane mode off and the same result.
I check it an the storm alert button are enable. The watch work perfectly, but only these function.
I thinking to open a case on Suunto .
Thanks a lot. -
@omunoz
Storm alarm is not rain alarm
This alarm should happen when pressure drop but quite quickly (Storm) but not if pressure drop slowly (standard dépression) -
… and I can confirm it works

-
It works for me too.
Notice the barometer… you should see a pressure drop of about 4 hPa in 3 hrs before the storm alarm will go off -
I check it these days , because the last week I the same floor of my office a Suunto Spartan Whirst Baro apear the storm and my S9 no !

-
If the pressure does not drop dramatically no storm alarm will fire. Its what the name is a storm alarm. For an unexpected change in weather. Even if a storm would slowly approach that is not a case for storm alarm.

@omunoz said in S9 and storm alert:
I check it these days , because the last week I the same floor of my office a Suunto Spartan Whirst Baro apear the storm and my S9 no !

In that case, you should check pressure drop, as @surfboomerang already told.
Just to see what’s different and for the sake of knowledge

Mine works but is not frequent…clear to see on the barometer page when it works. I can go six months without an alert even though we have storms. It has to be fast moving and a significant low pressure.
-
In my case, each time a storm alarm has sounded no storm has appeared, and each time a storm has appeared no storm alarm has sounded.
Therefore i disabled it. -
@omunoz Had a big and nasty rain with some serious winds and temperatures drop the other week, and the storm alert did go off. But I concur: it takes more than just rain for the alert to appear. Still pretty cool… Some weather shouting from somebody other than Weather Channel.
