Box breathing app
-
@fv4500 Annoyingly that is the exact sport mode I’m trying to use it with (Meditation).
-
@sartoric
Thanks, I’ve just looked in Yoga & it is there
Rather odd that you can’t use it in Meditation which is in the same group of sports mode as Yoga & probably the mode most likely to be used with it…
-
@Mattg576 strange indeed… it’s where I use it!

-
@fv4500
I see it too but you can’t choose it from the list or disable it.
maybe it’s a default of that sport, maybe a bug
-
Be aware that there is still, afaik, a bug if/when you pause the activity even if the app is not running.

I used the Box breathing app when it came out with Yoga sport mode, now
- I can’t select it with Meditation sport mode (custom and default).
- I can’t un-select it with Yoga (it’s enabled, but it doesn’t appear in the SuuntoPlus list of Apps). This is a custom mode.
Additionally, I created a workout in intervals.icu for breathwork. Workouts normally go under Suunto Guides. I can’t select any Guide with Yoga and Meditation (default and custom), but I can use it with the old sport mode Yoga/Pilates.
At the moment the list of sport modes includes Yoga/Pilates, Yoga and Pilates, plus Meditation, and clearly something is not working for those that were released later. At least they don’t seem to include Guides. -
@Mattg576 did u ever get this to work? I have exactly the same issue with my race 2 and have tried everything but to no avail. Won’t work with neditation or yoga and Pilates.
I’ve reset, uninstalled, reinstalled, setup settings in the app, followed all the advice but I never get the cues on screen either. -
@TED77 Yes I did get it working (but NOT with meditation !!) but to be honest I found it pretty pants, I thought there would be a vibration pulse at each cycle as I wanted to use it whilst stretching but nope, you have to look at the watch so I binned it …
-
@Mattg576 i used to do it like this:
https://forum.suunto.com/post/87182
Only works with equal time periods (so you will have same inhalation and exhalation or hold time) Have not tested with Meditation Sportsmode, but I guess doing with laps and autolap would work - and also for stretching
Edit: just tried - works with meditation sportsmode. You can’t set Autolap below 10 seconds though.

@ChrisA Cheers Chris, looks like a great workaround to achieve what I was after.
Annoyingly I’ve set it all up as you suggested but I cannot get the box breathing app to show up in the Suuntoplus sports apps, I’ve installed - uninstalled - reinstalled - soft reset watch & synced numerous times all with no luck so gave up…
Thanks anyway

@Mattg576 yes, it doesn’t work with Suunto+ apps, but you can use it with any breathing exercise where you would need a set time interval (like 10 seconds for inhaling and 10 seconds for exhaling, or 10 seconds inhaling - 10 seconds hold - 10 seconds exhaling - 10 seconds hold) and get a vibration after each interval. I often do my breathing exercises with closed eyes and/or laying down and there it’s helpful to get a rhythm in the beginning. I don’t necessarily use it now and inly go by feeling
-
@TED77 thanx, for paying attention on the app, i’ll take a look what could cause the issue like that next week.
-
@ChrisA I get what you mean now Chris, ignore the box breathing app altogether & just use the autolap function to guide each cycle - perfect & it works a treat!!
I still find it strange that I can’t get the BB app to work with any sports mode, not even the ones listed in the app description when I could previously but I won’t be wasting any more time on it (who knows what’s going on with the software currently, I haven’t had many issues so happy to leave as is)

@Mattg576
it’s great how you could configure Suunto watches for different “use cases”
