      Yes, agree with you
But Vertical2 is not an Race 2.5, it is the same original Race1! maybe Race 1.1 but with 3 prehistoric buttons and one new watchface😇
Display is only 1mm bigger, but much darker in Race2. It is not lighter it is 5grams less but at the cost of plastic body instead of metal. Digital crown works better and more precisely in Race1. After almost 20 years of blind loyalty to the suunto brand, feels deceived for having purchased downgraded and overpriced titanium stone made of plastic in 2025. Instead of Race2 should have been considered galaxy watch ultra with digital crown and smooth pleasant UI, real interaction with smartphone, voice calls instead of primitive “watch connection”.
Samsung is more generous with ultimate hardware, features and full titanium body @549EUR onlyđŸ€‘

        It all happened so quickly.
My father’s 9 Baro watch died a few days before his birthday. He loved design of my Race1.
Received a notification from the Suunto app about the launch of the Race 2, was almost “forced” to offer my Race.
ordered Race2 but received an simplified version of 49mm Race S, priced like an Race3, but with same old bugs of Race1 in 2023.
        Was eluded by sponsored youtubers,
was too fast and too much confidedent in suunto😇
        Race2 was waste of 600EUR
Should buy another Race for my father or moved to samsung. I’m not much demand to battery life, 3-4 days is OK for me.
In 2023 had more money to waste but was super happy from the first attempt purchased Race1, today I have no chance to buy another, and nobody wants my Race2 even at 399EUR

@tas2581 the YouTube reviews are not “sponsored.” I find the Race 2 a big improvement on Race 1, which was too bulky and a bit heavy for me. The Race 2 is so light and comfortable that I can easily wear it sleeping. I prefer it over my Race S as the battery life is long enough that I can run a 100 mile ultra without worry. My only issue is the crown, which is hard to use in winter with bulky gloves while ski mountaineering. The OHR is so much better that I can use it for all but interval running. I am confident that future updates will provide features that will not be available on the Race 1 firmware. Not clear on why you think the Race 2 is a waste, it certainly is not a simplified version of the Race S and most of the bugs that appeared with the Race 1 have been resolved.

@Brad_Olwin They’re sponsored with free watches, usually received before the official premiere. And this doesn’t just apply to watches; it also applies to cameras, drones, and other electronics.

That’s why the reviews are always so enthusiastic. And those who talk too much about problems don’t receive the equipment the next time – these are the reports from people testing photographic equipment. But the principle behind such tests is always the same: They’re more of a marketing video than an independent test

@Brad_Olwin very curious to see what will be implemented on SR2 that’s HW dependent and could not be ported to SR1. Maybe Suunto will convince me to upgrade my SR1đŸ€©

Wearing SR with SA on Android 13.
              Previously owned/tested: SV, S9, S3.

@SergioB It’s better to wait for real improvements and new features (plus bug fixes) before purchase than to rely on vague assurances and promises. Suunto has made many promises that it hasn’t delivered.

@maszop AFAIK, most testers return watches and then purchase their own for continued review. That includes DCRainmaker, DesFit, and I believe Matt LeGrand. Don’t know about Chase the Summit. They are attempting to remain impartial although I think some of them are more impartial than others. I have found them generally accurate especially with issues about watches that I have. So, I think your wholesale opinion is quite negative and largely incorrect. DCRainmaker particularly is clear to say the test watches he receives are returned.

@maszop I cannot speak for all of them, but DC Rainmaker makes it very clear on his website that he send all products back after testing them. There is a lot of distortion out there for sure, but I would argue that the ones that are the most positive are those that are trying to get brand sponsorships or trying to get product free to test. I will not name names, but it seems fairly obvious.
Youtube influencers are a bit of a problem for sure, but DC is brutally honest if he does not like something.

@Brad_Olwin Totally agree as I have said below in my own post.

The only thing I would add is I feel some are a bit Garmin-centric. I have to read/watch the reviews with my own use case in mind.

The only thing I would add to this discussion would be that it seems we are at a place where devices are starting to level out. Tech is less bleeding edge than it was a few years ago. I came to Suunto after being totally unimpressed with the Fenix 8. There was a lot of expectation with that watch and it failed on many levels. There is only so much they can do with current levels of tech.

The great thing about Suunto is that they have done massive improvements to the OHR and the software is coming along. Sure it could be better in some aspects, but it has some really great features right now you will only find on a Garmin like climb assistance and resources/recovery. Coros software is great, but it does not have either of these and Amazfit has recovery but it is not useable from what I read.

The other issue is the Apple Watchification of Sports Watches. Brands continue to be compared with a smartphone on your wrist and I would argue that is not what most of use Suunto users want.

@Stavrogin I do hope Suunto will stay this level featurewise. I do not need many numbers, reports etc. I need clock, alarm, timer, recording activities with sensors, navigation is enough where it is now. That is it. I do not need notifications, sleep and nap, HRV, recovery nothing like these. I do my stuff how I feel and measure morning pulse and HRV with an app. I had a few Garmins (Edge 500, Edge 830, Forerunner 945, Fenix 6X Pro, Fenix 7X, Epix Gen 2, Epix Gen 2 Pro) but at the last two I turned of almost everything. It was just noise for me with painfully slow and choppy maps.
I know people needs are different. It is just my opinion.

@szleslie I agree totally. Less is more sometimes, we are in a world where people are loosing sleep because their watch says they are not sleeping well 😂

I saw this image and was wondering whether the suunto race 2 titanium with the ‘metallic’ bezel really exists? On my Suunto Race 2 Titanium, the titanium bezel is more of a black colour.

@Tami999 It may be a specific light or photo processing, which often makes the colors look slightly different than in reality.
