Notifications message saying things like "9 hours ago" for no apparent reason

Suunto Run fw version 3.19.16; Android Suunto app version 5.4.7 (5004007).
Just recently my watch has started bugging me with bogus/out-of-date(?) messages about notifications. It’ll show the message ‘speech bubble’ on the watch saying stuff like ‘9 hours ago’ (other durations also available). If I look at my phone there are no unacknowledged notifications, and, as my phone is with me all the time, I’d fully expect to have seen and dealt with any notifications that do occur.
Anyone else with this issue?
