3rd party widgets support
-
Hi,
I’m a software developer and I would like to create custom widgets for the watch. This could improve the watch a lot.
Best regards,

Edit: Sorry if my post is unrelated. If the OP is talking about a “Widget” as in on watch additions ‘outside’ of sports usage, then obviously Suunto would have to create a wholly different way to amend the Firmware than SuuntoPlus. But I’ll let my original reply stand, since in that case I doubt the ground rules would be alteered:
@Ondřej-Deingruber From what I can tell, there is no way for a private individual to work on SuuntoPlus sports apps or guide alternatives, only companies and organisations can apply for a partnership. But nothing prevents an individual from starting their own company or contacting an already connected Suunto partner about their ideas around the apps/guides. Links:

@Ondřej-Deingruber Just go for it and apply. The Suunto ecosystem will only allow for S+ (during activity) development though, no widgets (out of any activity recording)
(but this is maybe just wording) -
@Egika Yes, if I had a good enough idea (and were a capable enough programmer) I’d throw my hat in the ring as an individual before trying the roundabout way. But I still wanted to link to the official entry points as a reply.

@Inge-Nallsson sorry, I meant to tag the TO with my comment

@Inge-Nallsson I am specifically looking for way to create a widget as opening this to 3rd party developers could really improve the day to day usage of the watch. The widget apps that I would think about would be for example a Home Assistant integration, integration with to-do list app etc. Just some small things that the suunto is not really focused on, but can open a lot of possibilities. I know that there might be concerns for example about the battery life, but if suunto already allows 3rd party add-ons in activities, then they definitely figured out how to keep them reasonable and they figured out how to integrate 3rd party code with their own. So in theory it would not be much different than an app for an activity, but I am aware that sometimes in theory is not good enough and there might be some non-obvious things that can make this very different.

@Egika I am looking for a way specifically how to run a 3rd party app outside a activity, it feels silly to open an activity to check your todo-list or other app that might be more connected do casual daily activities.
